Holy cow there's a lot of interest for this event.  I am really looking forward to getting back on the yak in some North Coast water.  Maybe I'll find that 40+ inch ling I couldn't find last summer.  Looking forward to seeing some old friends and it sounds like there will be a whole big mess of new people to meet.

I can't believe the hotel is totally booked!  This is going to be like the North Coast Kayak Fishing version of Woodstock.
Fishing is cool

Hey Abking, I am thinking of adding another jig head mold to the lot.  I am debating on the 3-4oz Spires Heads or jumping up to an 8oz Spires.  What do you think is more practical for SC and Humboldt?  I scored some more lead, so should have a good supply to trade off.

Domenic, Abking said you are working on some new hardware.  What did you come up with? Pictures?  Maybe we can do some trading.  A lure exchange program sounds fun!

Too bad they are not giving us Salmon this year.  I would love to do some trolling.  I would much rather catch a nice big springer, than these little lake trout.

I put a white LED light on the kayak in case of fog and found a nice poly shirt which will make a great rash guard.  I am glad we have this event coming up, it is easier to justify new toys to the wife....honest honey I just HAVE to have it.  It is a safety issue......Honest a cooler of frosty cold wobblypops is a requirement not an option.......

Matt

6 and 8 ounce heads are my go-to, Matt.  It's so often windy with current up here that it's hard to get 4's to the bottom and keep them straight up and down.

I like the 12 ounce "wobblypops" with green labels.   :smt003

Mmmmmm, I love their wheat beer too.  I like stopping by the brewery everytime I go to Chico....Quality control purposes only I assure you!  I will be sure to bring some Whiskey to wash the beer after taste out.

I appreciate the advise Abking, I just ordered an 8oz spires head mold.  Maybe I need to change my name to Lead Poisoning!  I will update the rest on my tackle post, but will have a nice supply of lead for us.

Matt

50 guys, 2 guys; you probably will win either way SBD!  :smt003

I hope to see someone catch a big Halibut at Gimme Shelter!  I still have to figure out how to land one of those on a kayak!  That is a lot of flapping, fighting fish.....

Good luck!  Matt

That's a 110# Pacific Halibut caught last August on Trent Slate's charter cat - "Bite Me".  The fish was caught at the same time as they were hooked up to and about to land a 105#.  The bad news for us:  they were 15 miles north of the Cove in 225' of water.  But we DO have a chance at a halibut...
