I'll be there but the way the fishing has been, a sand dab might win it all.  :smt044

Allen, not sure if I'll be there this year or not, I made previous plans to add a roof to to my familys cabin that weekend.  If not, I wouldn't miss it, last year was a blast.

Hi Yakers:

Alex is letting me use his Scupper Classic so, I may win a Yak
of my own. My last Derby at Santa Cruz, Alex won a Prowler. I hope some of his luck rubs off on me.
The bad news is I don't have any smoked Salmon to share. :smt044
The good news is I think I'm number 13 to sign up and the odd are good! :smt002
                                                              Good Luck to all

This is actually my first post.

I will probably not be fishing the derby for a couple of minor reasons:

#1 - No boat
#2 - No experience in the big blue

=).  But I did call down and asked them if it is possible just to watch the weigh in and participate in the BBQ Lunch.  The girl I talked to said it was OK and that they would charge me $5 for lunch.  I am going to talk to my wife about it and we will probably end up going.  I think it would be a good first introduction to kayak fishing for us to see you guys weigh in 30 lb butts each.  Maybe I can rent a yak that day and just paddle around with my rod and see what happens.

P.S. MBK doesn't allow fishing from their rentails.

bassman, you're welcome to take my T140 for a test paddle after the tourney. It's rigged for fishing. I would offer to let you borrow my spare kayak, Prowler Big Game, but one of my friends will be using it for the tourney. I guess you could test paddle that one too, if you want. Send me a PM.

basman:  Looking forward to meeting you.  I believe you CAN rent a kayak for fishing in the Derby, and I'm sure you'll find a num ber of participants you can hang out with for the day, on the water.  that's one of the great things about Delmonte, it's so easy launch and landing, usually very mild there.

c'mon, go fishing!

Ernie....I think they resolved thae fishing rental quetion last year.  teh owner said this year they would be changing that policy, mainly because we brought it up to them...

Looks like I am in.  I was holding out for the possibility of taking a Saltwater Kayaking class but it fell through.

I hope you're right Allen as this will be my first time on the ocean.  I've got plenty of time in on the water, just not the big blue.  Should be fun.  Maybe I'll have some newbie ocean luck! :smt004
