It's happened more than you know.  I know guys who've driven as far as Lake Tahoe and San Diego only to realize they forgot a paddle.

Stick an old paddle in your hull and let it bounce around in there through all transfers and storage...

There's always the potential to forget one piece of essential equipment or another.  Checklists are good, but I haven't gotten that advanced yet myself...

that is one thing about the hobies mirage... I have to screw up twice as bad to manage to get to the lake without a mode of propulsion... which is good cause I'm twice as forgetful as some folks.  Sorry man.

I'd rather forget the mirage drive, than the paddle though!  No way to reverse!  But yeah, if I had the drive, but not the paddle on a lake or something, I would probably jsut go for it and try to not let drift push me on rocks or something.

you can put the drive in backwards... it actually works pretty good for backtrolling and stuff... But, yes, the paddle is more important.

What we need is to barcode everything we need for fishing, and have a scanner hooked up to the ignition on our trucks... until you scan in everything as you load it, the truck wont start. ;)

Uggghhh....been there, done that! Fortunately I was only 30 minutes from home. But had already carried all my gear+yak a long path donw to a secluded beach and didn't want to leave my stuff. So I had to carry it all back and reload the truck! THAT sucked!

Just find a flat board and use it as an oar! Go Man vs Wild on them bass!!!

That's what I do. Stash an old paddle inside and forget about it. If you ever forget your paddle again, or if something happens to your good paddle, it's always there. And yes, I also went all the way to the ocean once and realized I didn't have my paddle.  :smt013

Yea,

I think we've all been there. I forgot my drives more than once, but I didn't forget the paddle since they are the first thing I seem to always grab.

I always have my license in teh car, cuz ya never know, and I used to carry a rod too. I shoud do that again. My dad used to when the strpied bass used to be plentiful in the bay and he'd just stop, drop a line in and.....dinner! Oh the good ole days.

You know, I never even thought of that!  I'm gonna have to try that little experiment :)  Wouldn't be easy, but hey sounds like an option at least!
