Ok now for my day, wow, lots of bad stuff in the mix, but the constant action makes up for it! So I near the tules and cock back for a long hard cast and my lure snags on the tule as I cast and snaps my pole 2/3 up. Crap. So I take that reel off and put it on my other pole. The reel I took off the good pole I turn to put it in the crate, but I guess I missed and it goes splash and goes to the bottom. Crapppp. Oh well on the stripers, but the lmb action was off the hook! ant wait till all the females move up.

Jeff

PS Dont make fun of all my small fish! They are still FISH lol

I forgot my paddle the first time I tried my hand at kayak fishing. I was at Monterey about 70miles from home so there was no going back for it. I decided to sleep in my kayak on the beach and waited for Monterey bay kayaks to open up so I could borrow one from there. I remember by the time I got out on the water, Etienne had already gotten his fish and was heading back.

Years ago I was on a month long solo canoe trek in the Nicolet national Forest WI, The one night I didn't sleep with my paddle a big honkin Beaver came by in the night and chewed the s@#$ out of it. I had no spare and was over fifty miles from the nearest outpost of civilization. I spent the better part of that day carving a new paddle out of pieces of a split sugar maple. I made it back to society in one piece and gave the paddle to my mentor the late great Verlen Kruger. Here is a pic of Verlen somewhere on the Mississippi with kids who just like our native ancestors all had the same Idea

What did you do to get such bad karma?

Did you GPS your reel location?  How deep was it?  Maybe you could get it later.

The fishing looks good, it's always fun to get a lot of bites.

I wouldnt neccesarily call it bad karma. More of my forgetfullness and i dont slow down enough to think. The pole and reel happened out of frustration. Atleast it was a cheap pole and reel. The reel is in about 15 feet of water with fast current so i dont know if its staying put. I dont care about it, but i really hate littering like that. It really bothers me knowing a duck or bird could get tangled in that line off the reel. Hopefully someone snags it.     jeff

I guess it would be appropiate for the paper plate littering story in the delta. On a fishing trip with my dad from the boat, we started fishing on the outgoing tide off Decker Island. A paper plate floats by with a large load(#2) on top. Apparently a fisherman didn't want to pack it out so he sent it packing. Several hours later when the tide flipped the paper plate came floating by again.
