Got to the water at about 3:30 just like I planned, water was like glass, about a foot of clarity. Looked like I was going to have a nice day. Started off throwing a deep diving x-rap and on the 5th cast I hooked up with something decent sized, but I knew it wasnt a largemouth because it was very erratic. After a decent fight got it to the yak. A perfect even 18" striper, my first fish of 2008! Here it is below.

About 20 minutes hooked up with another striper I think, but popped off. I switched over to plastics and worked them for about an hour for not one hit, then switched over to my go-to crankbait for this area and immediately started hooking up on bass. My first largemouth of 2008!

'

My next fish was a nice one, had to be close to 6 pounds, I got it to the yak, did a headshake, spit the lure, and the fish slipped through my hands. Oh well, the skunks already gone.
I caught 3 more largemouth and lost a few others. All bass were between 2-3 pounds, no dinks.

So then as the sun started going down I did my 15 minute paddle to my favorite striper spot to see if there were any left. Oh wow, heres my fun part of my trip. Non stop action till dark. I ended up with 11 keeper stripers measured and released. Two fish over 30"!!! Biggest right at 37 inches, and she did not want to give up. Fought her for over 30 minutes and was towed a ways away from where I hooked her. I did not catch any under 18" and lost well over 20 more stripers.

Ive never had such good action. I lucked out big time and I dont know how. But for the bloody legs from the wrestle match in the kayak with the 37"er and bass thumbs, I had a great day! I need to get back out soon before my spot gets burned or the fish move on. Maybe Thursday! I have movies of the fish to upload, they will be posted soon!

Heres the vid, I know it sounds like I am overreacting, but so what, 30 min fight on my 6 foot pole. My biggest striper before this on was 24.5 inches
