Da Humboldt Hui is road-trippin it to Clear Lake for a weekend campout and BASS fishing. We're still going to hit the SF eel on friday and then head south. I've got goose festivals and such for the next few months so this could be my last free weekend for the season.

I agree the steadily degrading forecast signals a no go  :smt009  :smt010 .  But it is the smart decision based on the intel that we have.  When Hawk calls for bad conditions I know I do not want to be out there.  Eric is the best at internet wx conversions for that area and he is not game.  Even if the forecast is wrong, with its steadily increasing nastyness the chance of it being wrong enough to let us go out is less and less.

My birthday is next weekend and the family will endure a trip to the cove as long as I do not stay on the water all day.  It will require marathon driving Friday evening and Sunday but if the window is open Eric, let me know because the ocean and salmon and maybe crab are what I am after.  If not our more traditional Xcountry ski trip will cover next weekend.

I'm going to try and keep my work schedule nimble so I can shift off of a day to get 3-4 days free at short notice.  So I'm with Etienne and Eric, if the window opens up and I have coverage for my practice, I'll be ready to roll.

I'm on it, guys.  I'll post forecast conditions for the 22nd/23rd by Tuesday evening.  I also like PK's idea to hit April and have abs as an option too...

Nice . . I'm also going to plan on that weekend.  Weather permitting, of course.

Man am I bummed. Had my car packed and ready to go. Anyone up to give it a try 3/28-3/30?

Scott

Yeah tell me about it.  The plug is officially pulled then.  Ocean Beach cottages has a 48 hour reso cancellation policy so I'm going to let them know today that we will not be coming in on Friday.  Backing out is the prudent choice.

Saturday looks like the $hits even down at Del Valle and the South Bay.  I think I'm gonna wait out friday and saturday, then go for a paddle on Sunday.  We should still get out together people - given that all spouses/partners/dogs have been put on notice of our unavailability for the weekend.

So.....  whos going where?

If the hotel sticks you with some charges, let me know and I will split it with you. My wife and I will probably be paddling Loch Lomond on Sunday but I was also considering MBK for sand dabs. I will post in hookups when confirmed.

I could work a dab trip.  A heard about a salmon by catch from a dab fisherman in Monterey Bay recently.  They are still there though apparently in reduced numbers.

No charge, no problem and thanks for offering.  (BTW: I just talked my way out of a 6 month old $30 charge from WaMu on one of our checking accts!  Their mistake, but they have a 90 day contest period.  I got the rep to waive the 90 day restriction and reverse the charge  :smt003.  I should go through my mail and travel bags more thoroughly  :smt044)

I'm down for loch lomond.  that lake stays pretty clear so there's still a chance to pick up some trout despite the rain.  I'd be coming pretty late b/c I'd be picking up the Pamlico 135T from Kayak connection in Santa Cruz and they don't open till 10'ish.

Ah, the irony...   :smt010  The calm before the storm tomorrow sounds like the time to be there.

Well, it was a hell of a thread at least!   :smt001
