Well, it was a good thread while it lasted. And I will buy a 6-pack for anybody who still goes up there and launches their kayak. That would take some cajones. I was dead-set on ocean salmon so once that option was gone, that was it. I'm out.
But what the heck am I gonna do with all this salmon gear I just bought if there isn't a salmon season for us. Ehhhhh.....guess I'll have to plan to hit opening wknd in MoBay before the supposedly-impending closure.

Since I do have the time off already, I'm trying to figure out where to go too. Coyote is a good option. Especially for Friday because there won't be as many boats. Maybe I'll just tell the wifee that I'm still going to The Cove...then go camp at Del Valle or Coyote LOL!  The storm isn't supposed to hit the south coast as hard, so maybe a trip to Lake San Antonio.

Eric B, I am staying away from the beach this wknd...so that HAS to say something for the upcoming conditions. Because I'm ALWAYS at the beach.

Watch out, Martin - your next post is gonna be an evil one!   :smt077  (666)

Adam - I'll setup a Humboldt rendezvous for us in the Summertime, so you can get your fix.  Bear Harbor in August is pretty hard to beat...   :smt001

You have got to love those negative "tives."  Who the hell is writing our childrens' text books these days anyway!  :smt044

Hey, I just write the test questions...not the textbooks. C'mon, thats the first typo I have ever posted. Not bad for a guy w/1116 posts! LOL!
PK

PK, for whom do you write questions?  Are we talking standardized testing or questions for the textbooks?  Just curious.  I'm in education in the south bay.

*Note - end of thread jack; I'm just doing my part to see it makes 15 pgs.*

Oh, we'll make our 15 page quota damnit!

Michael, I work at McGraw-Hill. All my teacher-friends tell me I'm the "bad guy" because I create standardized tests. I write/edit math+science test questions for the brilliant students of WVA and MO (no offense to folks from West Virginia....or Missouri LOL).

Every time I try to plan something, it backfires. So I am self-imposing a 30 day ban on myself from the Hookups section. Starting......nnnnnnnnnnnnnnow!

One day we should  launch our kayaks from one of the beaches near Crescent city. I've fished there from the rocks and it always has been spectacular fishing since that place gets little pressure.
Wishful thinking but maybe I'll get the chance one day.

Do you really think it will be doable tomorrow?  I could drop everything and leave in two hours.  Are you game?

It's not worth the chance, Etienne.  I bet it blows down there tomorrow.  We'll get some opportunities in the next few weekends...   :smt001

I've gone out of Crescent City a few times, Ark.  There are some chances for fish there, but the good rocks that are in yakking distance do get quite a bit of pressure from the locals powerboating right out of the port.  The poke-poling along shore there is probably better than the nearshore jigging...  It's a cool place, that's for sure.

That's cool stuff!  If we ever hook-up on the water, man do I have questions for you.  The curiosity is working overtime.

Man am I bummed. Had my car packed and ready to go. Anyone up to give it a try 3/28-3/30?

Scott

Yeah tell me about it.  The plug is officially pulled then.  Ocean Beach cottages has a 48 hour reso cancellation policy so I'm going to let them know today that we will not be coming in on Friday.  Backing out is the prudent choice.

Saturday looks like the $hits even down at Del Valle and the South Bay.  I think I'm gonna wait out friday and saturday, then go for a paddle on Sunday.  We should still get out together people - given that all spouses/partners/dogs have been put on notice of our unavailability for the weekend.

So.....  whos going where?

Martin -

If the hotel sticks you with some charges, let me know and I will split it with you. My wife and I will probably be paddling Loch Lomond on Sunday
I was also considering MBK for sand dabs. I will post in hookups when confirmed.

Scott

Sanddabs...Thats sounds like a great Idea! Lets do it!

Didn't know that the fishing wasn't that great off the rocky outcroppings there. Thats too bad. The few times that I've fished off the main jetty as well as Preston Island, I did pretty well but I might have been just lucky. Lots of large rockfish (mostly black) and a few lings. It was a pain getting the lings up on the rocks on the jetty since those are pretty slippery. I miss that area for sure.
