Very true - nothing like that!

Yes, it sounds kinda shitty, but I'm still seeing some fishable potentials.

It's the Cove.  Wait to see what the north comes through as, and we'll see if that south swell shows up.

The bottom line here is that we're a go.  If the tourney is shore-based, as has happened one time (GS 13), then so be it, but we are a long way from that.  I'm still planning to take my guys out for a half day on Friday morning, and we'll see how the forecast and conditions work out for tourney day.

When it comes to kayak fishing, we don't push it, but, on the same token, we go when we can.  Be there at first light, see how it is, fish if you can - even if it's only for an hour or two.  The good water isn't that far from port.

I'm not here to push anyone out of their comfort zone or to push the limits of safety.  I'm here to encourage all to embrace what we have in front of us, and the more questions there are about the feasibility of offshore angling, the more we rely on each other.  The beauty of this gig is that we can decide that and move forward together, with a plan that involves safety and the best potential for us to catch some fish to eat and to print shirts with, and, yes, to compete in the tournament with.

Don't look at this as a ruined opportunity - far from it!  Look at this as an enhanced opportunity, for sure.

I don't think I need to say more.

See you at the Cove, and if you can't make it, see you next year or this summer.  Peace.   :smt001

Here are a couple of views available on Stormsurf:

Winds around Point Delgada (this is the lighthouse point at Shelter Cove) look to be under 10 knots for about 6 hours, from roughly 6 AM to noon on pre-fish Friday and tourney day Saturday.  They never get this just right...  It could be worse, but it's very often better than what they show.

Swell bumps up for sure, from all the offshore winds, but those winds are strong North and NW, and sometimes those don't show up much at Shelter Cove.  I can see it being likely pretty flat at launch and the moorings, and sloppy out front - like 7 @ 7 type of square swell.

Anyway, watch out for thinking it won't be possible.  I'm still planning to fish, and I'll base everything on what comes to fruition in front of my eyes.  The last thing I'll do is give up without going.

Thanks for the update and keeping it real Eric.  I just finished making a bad-ass crema with chipotle and lime for the fishtacoshack. Homemade pico de Gallo is next. We will be prepared to bust out 200+ amazing batter-fried Baja style fish tacos on Saturday evening. The only thing we need is rockfish fillets and cold beer. I'm not saying fishtacos are worth risking your life for but i think these are gonna be our best ones yet.

I’m still planning on a Friday outing, if only for tacoshack fillets!
Sure would be nice to get two mornings on the water though.
Gonna bring a boogie board and some beach kites along with my shore rod juuuust in case…
Stoke is holding, looking forward to seeing a lot of fun people again.

Buddy up, triple up. Seen some awesome dudes get back into a kayak just as fast as they fell out. Had a few times that myself and others helped others out. Payed it forward for the times i fell out.

A word of advise. Lean into a wave. I had a wave crest on me and leaned into the wave and did not roll. Thats when i decided to head in.  :smt005

Inventoried the Gyotaku shirts today - we're well stocked, and I've got fresh GSXX models being made too.

Got all the other supplies organized.  The Trophy Troughs got a fourth coat and are looking outstanding.  The raffle is looking strong, as always.

I'm so looking forward to hanging with the brotherhood.   :smt007
