Monterey Heroes On the Water Help?

Hello All,

I am trying to coordinate with HOW a kayak fishing event on August 28th on Municipal Beach in front of MBK. MBK will be providing the veterans the kayaks but we are seeking some experienced volunteers to help out. You would be on the water assisting these veterans to catch fish and help out where needed. MBK and HOW will provide everything needed we will just need some experienced anglers to bring their own kayak. These experienced anglers would not be allowed to fish rather they would be there only to help them catch the fish and take lots of photos. You would be assigned your own individual

Let me know if you are interested and can help out this at this great cause. If you dont have a kayak MBK can provide you with one.

I don't have much local knowledge of fishing spots there, but I'm not sure if that's required.  I'd be more than glad to help with techniques and photos and general guidance/laughter.  I'm set on gear and can do the 28th.  Let me know where to sign up/get more info/etc.

Just needing experienced kayak fisherman. Local knowledge not needed as I will help with that. You would be assigned an individual to work with and you wouldn't be able to fish but you would really be helping in this great cause. We would be happy to have you

Wish I was closer, have you tried talking to the Monterey VA or the Capitola VA to see if you can wrangle some support out of them?

***Update*** Seeing that we are getting many people wanting to help out we are going to push the date to October so we can get more Veterans involved and have a larger event. I will keep everyone updated once a new date is set.

How can I help drum up interest?  I noticed HOW is open to not just veterans but active duty and first responders.  I'd like to put some active duty coasties and some firefighters in touch with the HOW folks.  Can you PM me the POC for the HOW side of things and also provide your contact info so I can coordinate?
