No, I didn't say that. Please don't worry at this point. :smt001  Conditions on Sat look great for SCI - by extension, they should be good at the Cortez although we've got to expect a bit more weather out that way. John and / or Shane of the Islander will give us a better picture later this week.

Be sure to thank your buddies for putting themselves in harms way to save our homes.

Please thank them on my behalf too.

Wetsand is calling for a building swell as we enter the weekend. Looks like up to 8' offshore come Sunday.

Please keep in mind the Islander crew will have a much more 'real world' assessment coming up.

Cortez is Mavericks without the GWS. Bring it on!!!!  :surf

Would anyone like to borrow a powered bait tank? I have one available. It was built for the OK P15. Due to a short intake, it isn't suitable for T160s. Requires your own rechargable gel cell or one 6V lamp battery / day.

I also have a Plano bucket if anyone feels like extra exercise.

I'm just bringing a couple of bait tubes, I hope that is sufficent,

will your bait tank work on 12v?

If not I'll pick up a few latern batteries.......

 Will it fit a Outback?

Paul,
Please do bring the bucket. Had planned on building bait tubes this week, but it's not going to happen, sooooo the bucket is better than nothing. Besides, I will just tie it to Walkers kayak and maybe I will be able to keep up with him. If anyone else has an extra tube or bucket I'm not too proud to beg for the sake of better fishing odds. If not, no problem, I can rationalize that iron is a fine way to go too.

I can bring an extra powered tank as well.  Fits in the back of a SPTW.  Just let me know

I don't have a bait tank or tube either so I was going to bring a 5-gallon bucket, but it's hard for me to reach way back in the tank well. Any suggestions? Beg on the water? Throw lots of iron instead?

I have time to make a bait tube if someone would post basic plans for one big enough for sardines and mackerel. (I didn't think tubes worked for this type of bait.)

It may have been just me but when we went out on the last Islander trip the bait didn't seem to do too well in the tubes, also make sure that the bait faces forward in the tube when you get loaded up.

Good luck every one and take lots of pictures.  I think the envy is going to start setting in soon.

My extra powered bait tank works on either 6 or 12 volt - the lower voltage simply runs the pump at 1/2 speed, which is quite enough. I'll bring the Plano bucket too, as well another extremely rudimentary powered livewell housing in a crate. There's a chance I'll have a third one too, plus I have a bait tube built by Sean that I'll trundle down to the landing. Then we can try it in 'yaks until we find one it fits. I don't know if it will work in an Outback - my most primitive tank should.

Until we get there, we can't say what the fish will bite best. It could be live bait, plus remember, we are bringing an 88 ft sportfishing plugged with livies to make chum. Could make all the difference.

With this group I wouldn't worry over much. Those of us with tanks will help those without, plus we have the Zodiac tender - but it is most convenient when you can help yourself.

My extra would actually work in most anthing.  It's inside a milk crate, but does not have to stay there.  It's about the size of a 5-gallon bucket.  I'll bring it in case anyone needs to use it.

A bait tube is very simple to build - you can get everything you need at the local Home Depot. Sean will post a tutorial later this evening showing how to build his simple and solid version.
