The small blue and white jigs have been working great along with the bird poop color

Do you mean like a bucktail or small Iorn jigs?

Also, does anyone have a opion about 3" bait tubes vrs 2"?

I had a 2" and upgraded recently to 3" just for the extra room.  The 2" inch tube killed a few baits last time I was in LJ.  I do not think it makes much difference if you do not over stuff it.  I was making bait for two of us that time so I may have been a little greedy.

Not positive, but I'm pretty sure it is small iron.

3" will give you more capacity but also more drag.  You don't want the bait turning around backwards in the tube.  A 3" will be fine with bigger baits, and I really an't imagine having sardines that would be small enoutgh to turn around in that.  Just keep in mind that you will need to put them in individually so that they face the flow of water.  This could get time consuming.  I have not done it, but it may be better to fill it at the bait tank & have them hand it to you when you are on the water.

Has to be iron, not bucktails.

Copy, Thanks,

Just remembering when I was in Baja this year and my 2" tube was substandard....

I'm sure these freaked out baits could turn around in a 3" @ a certain size,

 Bringing everything........

  thanks again,

Interesting enough they reported 39 yellowfin on the 22nd street Landing site, but reported 39 "yellows" on their website under a pic of a yellowtail.

Then they are likely yellows, and the landing erred in listing them as yellowfin. And they can most definitely put the hurt on us.

Anytime you can get out on the water at LJ it is worth it. There's been some sign of yellows. Overall it was a slow summer and fall.

On Saturday I'll be in Orange County covering Plastic Navy's bay bass tournament at Newport Bay. It's a catch and release, artificials only shindig. The fish are small, sand bass and spotted bay bass - a big one in the bay 2 lbs. Typical bass tricks work, excepting topwater. Full disclosure - Newport can be tough. This is light line stuff, 6 lb will see you fine.

If you'd like to check out a SoCal style kayak bass contest, come on by. Big prizes are up for grabs. There'll be lots of raffle goodness, and a benefit auction for the Red Cross to support fire recovery. Here's the info in case any of you are interested:

New Hampshire, beautiful fall colors, good food, nice people, easy work and all I can think about is tuna. This trip has taken the "madness" to whole new level. May have to do this every year.  :fishing1

I made a few bait tubes today, five actually. I used 3 " ABS plastic, which seems a bit more versatile than the 2" stuff some other folks are using. They have a screw type clean out for access, nothing fancy like a hinged door. Four are spoken for, but one remains available. If you need one, PM me and I'll put your name on it.

Regards,

Paul

Always willing to join others in the Monterey/Santa Cruz/Half Moon Bay area for a bit of fishing...feel free to contact me.
