A followup as I finally tried out ebay purchased Kwells (scopolamine).

The plan was to take it soon as I arrived at launch to give it 30mins to kick in.  I actually forgot to do this and ended up taking it as I launched otw.

While the swell wasn't huge, I had to tune a new downrigger clip, and threading a Krippled Anchovy the first trip of the season always has me fumbling a bit.  So there was quite bit of eyes-down time.  Sure enough I started to feel my stomach turning.  After about an hour from launch, I suddenly started to feel great.  The seasnickness was all gone and I forgot it was even a thing.  Clearly the Kwells kicked in, as while I felt great I had dry mouth from hell.  I had to take squirts of water in the middle of fighting some crazy salmon.  Other than the dry mouth I had no other side effects which was great.

This method is superior to meclizine for me, which requires me to take it the night before and makes me rather be asleep than fishing.  Not to mention I'm exhausted the rest of the day from it.  It's a big advantage to be able to show up to the launch then take the pill.  Not always we wake up to alarms, or we show up to launch to find out the conditions suck.  Not fun being doped up on meds from the night before for no reason.

The relief band Pacific mentions has me interested for sure.  It'd be ideal to get to a point where I take no drugs at all, or only on bigger swell days.

Ark's note about bad pills from Steven's Pharmacy -- this might be relevant -- they basically got shut down for illegally manufacturing drugs and insurance fraud.

Very sketchy. They are now operating as Mesa Verde Pharmacy at the same address. All I can say is I've been buying oral scopolamine capsules from them that seem to work just fine. But there has got to be a compounding pharmacy in Nor Cal that can do the same without the dubious track record.

My older kid is a pharmacist-in-training and he's now interning at a hospital pharmacy that specializes in compounding. I'll ask him about this...

I find transdermal scop effective and have not had side effects. I have had patients that needed to cut them in half who had problems tolerating a full one. You should not use this if you have prostate problems or narrow angle glaucoma.

I can sit on a kayak or surfboard all day and don’t get sick but  standing on a boat makes me feel ill in minutes.

I get the transderm skop (Sp?) patches from Kaiser and they are great.

For those of u who get blurry vision. Do u wash your hands really well after applying the patch?  I know that if u get the medicine on your hands and rub your eye, u will get blurry vision.

Can he get any Oxy's for me?  I'll still throw up, but I won't care!
