I'm all for public floggings of the covidiots.

I just don't get the "well its my right, fuck you" attitude.
This attitude is what closed 90% of the good trails in Marin, that have now taken literally decades to reopen only a fraction.

Pull your head out of your selfish ass and do the right thing.

I joined this site just before COVID hit.  I was amazed by how friendly everyone was, and the amount of information that was freely shared.  Now I find the level of hatred towards our fellow fisherman quite shocking.

Little was known about this virus back in March, but we've learned a great deal since then.  According to the CDC, close contact from person-to-person is the primary mode of transmission.  From what I can find online, only 14 people have died from COVID in Marin County.  I'm all for not interacting with people to control the spread.  If it's OK for a liquor store to remain open, why not a parking lot?  How am I spreading COVID by driving to a parking lot and launching my kayak?

I work in a 17 story building that is still operational.  We have masks, sanitizer throughout the building, and practice social distancing.  We've yet to have a single employee contract COVID.

I'm probably just poking the bear by writing this post, but I feel that some peoples anger is misdirected.

The orders are what they are. They have been debated to death and back in a couple other threads, and nothing we say in this forum is going to affect when they are lifted.

The issue here is that we don’t want members of this group setting a bad example by blatantly violating the shelter in place orders. Heading out to concerned coastal community  then posting about it in a public forum that can easily be accessed by anyone capable of typing ”Stinson kayak” into a search browser isn’t helping our cause.

It’s in our best interest to keep these coastal communities on our side, not piss them off...

If there’s “hatred”, then it’s usually directed at a specific person.  There’s no problem with going out fishing.  The problem are the members blatantly disregarding the local laws to fulfill their own selfish desires. It’s not much different as if you poached extra fish or used multiple rods in the Bay.  Those actions cast a bad shadow on the rest of us who have some level of self control to be patient.

If you do go, then that’s on you and don’t post it all over social media.  But if I personally found out you were a culprit, then don’t expect me to be buddy buddy with you.

Well said simplycook. For those that don’t know NCKA and fishermen in general, if the public perception is that we kayakers as a group don’t care about local laws as important as SIP, then the next conclusion is that we probably don’t care about any laws. We poach fish, use barbed hooks for salmon, eat coho sashimi, fish in the marine protected areas, steal surfboards and surfer dude’s girlfriends. lawless barbarians!

And to answer your specific question about why is it okay for a liquor store to be open but not drive to a parking lot?  I have no idea.

I agree with you that some of the rules are stupid, without any common sense.  But going back to the NCKA community perception and Bolinas is a great example.  Many of the local residents probably don't care about kayak fishing like we do, but we all need to follow the same rules (even if we all disagree with them or not).  Now here we have a few fellow kayak fishermen disregarding the rules, parking on local streets (not an empty parking lot), video taping and posting it all over social media.  All it does is tempt others to follow and do the same.

In the eyes of a non-fishing resident, we're just idiotic COVID carrying morons who want to float on a piece a plastic to catch a fish that can easily be bought at the store.  It’s not about you or me.  It’s about us, NCKA members, being good representatives of our community and respecting non-fishing residents whose communities, neighborhoods, and beaches we need to share with.

Jesus. Here we go again.

After all of the previous discussions here and all of the media and signs, etc. asking people not to go ruin stuff for others.

What a complete lack of common sense and common courtesy some of our members have shown lately.

Do we start deleting these types of posts or do we let them stay and let these people get the verbal beat down that they deserve?

Serious question.

For the serious retards, I say ban em!  We really need to cull out the serious retards on here that continue to represent the rest of us in a bad way.  And no joke, we are seriously outnumbered by the retards which is why this will never end lol.

The people  of Marin and Bolinas hated outsiders before covid-19 and will continue to hate outsiders long after covid-19.

At this juncture it appears to me that there’s more politics than medicine at play in the majority of the SIP orders that are presently implemented.   My issue with the current orders are that those are STATE resources they are attempting to lock people out of, locals do not own them, nor do they have the right to limit everyone’s access to them. Seriously.....all outsiders stay the fuck out.....it’s ours.....we should have access and you shouldn’t?  Really, who’s exhibiting selfish behavior here?

If you were truly concerned about your medical safety you wouldn’t be outdoors at all, you’d be sheltering in and figuring out an essential activity you can do indoors. If your communities truly cared about their safety they push to close access for everyone, residents and outsiders alike.  That will prevent any mass gathering and keep everyone safe........and it’s easy to police.

You down with that?

Go post something with optimism and stop being so negative.  Great and good things come from being positive - here, family, work, life.

You must have a bone to pick with me.  I did post something positive when someone asked about launching in Marin bay side and you shot it down, even after many others said it was also possible.

And now you’re quoting me out of context with a one-sided view point.
I wrote “some of the rules are stupid”.  Not all of them.  Remember when the government said playing tennis was okay, but you can’t touch the ball?   The people writing the SIP aren’t thinking about kayak fishermen in mind.

“We’re just idiotic COVID carrying morons”.  Okay, lots of sarcasm there... but have you been to Bolinas recently?  Probably not.  They don’t want us there.  They don’t want anyone outside there.  Yet, there has been at least 1-2 reports or people asking where to park there on this very forum.  Not everyone is a fishermen and understands our viewpoint of why it’s important to us.  As someone mentioned before, I’d like to be able to go back to Bolinas when this is all over without any broken glass and slashed tires on my truck.

Try thinking past yourself a little more. Why do you feel I’m being negative?  Because I love this community so damn much that it pisses me off seeing the lack of common sense and respect for the local communities who aren’t fishermen.

If you want to discuss more, then feel free to PM me.

It wasn't that long ago that FishingAddict was being a constant dick about anyone fishing San Mateo Coast...only because he didn't feel it was safe.  Your message is good and all, but you are not in any position to be putting people on blast and telling them they need to be more positive.  I'm too lazy to dig up your posts, but you posted some grim ass scenarios about shark attacks that may happen to us, which is beyond negative, borderline dark.

You can sit your ass back down pretending to be all high and mighty.

........I’m your huckleberry.  :cowboy_cool:

:smt003

I just want to know why residents in the “small communities” feel entitled to use state owned parks and beaches while telling everyone else to stay out.  It would seem that it’s geographically discriminatory  to limit a public access to a publicly owned resource. Aside from being elitistly dickheadish, it sounds like a lawsuit to me.

If the state wants to limit mass gatherings at the beach then shouldn’t it be off limits to the entire state to avoid discriminating against its own citizens?

If one were truly fearful of outsiders and their cooties, would it not be a safer option to just follow their own advice and stay the fuck home instead of going to the beach where cooties may pounce on you?

If one posts a report from a “protected” community, is it not an expression of civil disobedience?

I just don’t understand how one can have their head so far up their own ass that they don’t see how shitty their opinion is.

PS.....I’d post some pics of covid-19 bass and a nice striper I plugged yesterday, all outside my county) but the videos all had distinguishing landmarks that’d blow up the spots.  :smt001
