I finally found the topic on the elevated center hatch for the Prowler - with photos  :smt038

Bill, let me know when you want to start this project  :smt064

1. How secure is the white tackle box behind your seat?  Does it fit in some recessed slot?  I can't tell from your pics. :-)

2. Do you use a combination GPS/fish-finder?  I ask 'cause I'm shopping for PFDs and trying to visualize just how I'm going to juggle a VHF, GPS unit, and all of the other sundry safety gear that I'll be carrying.

3. How do you stow your gear (begging the question: Do you stow your gear) for surf entries and exits?

Your ride looks truly pimped out.  :smt004  It could use some chrome, neon, and one of those Calvin-pissing decals though.   :smt003

Orkspace -

The dry box (plano) fits really snug but not all prowlers measure the same. Dave has a prowler and he could not fit the same dry box on his P15. I secure the dry box with a bungee cord when conditions are tough (launching and landing)

I only have the FF - no GPS. I'll be getting a hand held GPS - when the tooth fairy visits me  :smt003 (can't afford it right now)

If I have a kayak fishing buddy to go out with, I'll stow my gear going out and coming in. Having a buddy makes it easier stowing stuff. JUst position the yaks side by side (facing each other)and take turns stashing stuff in the hull. If I'm alone, I'll take the reels off my rod and stick it in the dry box - the same with my FF. The rods will be attached on each side of the yak with a bungee cord. Sounds like a lot of work but if you can't afford to replace your gear = DO IT  :smt079

THis is the reason why I want to install the center hatch - cause I can stick the rods inside the hull (when fishing alone) without having to scoot up to the front hatch. My rods are two piece - for that reason as well.

Hope this helps  :smt002

Chuck and I were planning to put a fire tiger sticker on each side of the kayak's bow (just like the fighter planes in WW2) But we could not find the sticker decals  :smt011 We also wanted to stick some "fish kill" stickers on the side of the yak...and adding on stickers for each "kill" we make (salmon , Lings, halibut and striper)  :smt003

yes....you smartass  :smt098

Look what you started Chris  :smt076

Actually, I use my paddle to power on and off the fish finder. My "furry-hobbit-feet" are usually protected by neoprene booties. Last time I went out barefeet, I got a nasty sun burn  :smt011  Couldn't wear socks and shoes for a couple of days   :smt092
