Are there any MASS PLANS OF ATTACK drawn up yet?   i.e.  a favorable launch site and time?   the weather down here is TROPICAL like and NO WIND!!!  How's the water/wind @ the lil' Red House?

Can you tell i'm gettin excited?!
I seriously thinkin bout going up for a pre-fish on Fri. if the conditions are nice.

thnx for the link Mark!   It is at it's lowest i've seen it ALL YEAR!   wind & swell wise.

i was asking what the REAL-TIME conditions were along the shoreline also?Hoping that the Bodega Crew would repond sometime soon.

I NEED FISH FROM THE OCEAN NOW!!

Right now the conditions are perfect.  Flat, calm, etc..  Naoaki and I tried for salmon yesterday but got skunked despite the hot bite about 7 miles south of us.  I believe Jim and Naoaki are on a six pack right now just to insure us some salmon for Saturday's BBQ.  I may head out this afternoon if the bite is still on and try again.

As for real time wind you can check with the Marine Lab..

I think that image will update by itself if you refresh.  If not here is the link...

Man, it would absolutely SUCK to have to call in sick tomorrow so I could go chase salmon...

Adam, has anybody else said they'd be out?  I'd hate for you to be stuck with an ocean virgin...  I'll post a "hookup" for tomorrow.

Hey Adam,

That's fine with me... I was just wishfully thinking about the salmon... rockfish and ling would be the real target.

Depending on what the water, wind, swell, and beach break look like will determine where I will fish on Saturday.
I will be fishing solo. Depending on the conditions and intel will determine if I fish straight out from Jim's place, launch at Doran, ( both waters I am totally unfamiliar with ) or drive to Ocean Cove which I know fairly well.
Adam, you are more than welcome to join me if you wish. I am confident you will have no prob hangin'.
Doran and OC will charge to use, I am pretty sure the place in front of Jim's is free...unless he has some setup we don't know about. :smt002
I was going to head up today, but we are in the middle of a refi and the appraiser had to do his thing today. We will be up Friday morning. Not sure I will pre-fish. Need to build the GAF on Friday since she will be just hanging out while I fish on Saturday.
Looking forward to seeing you all there.

Who's that?

Hey Big J!  I'm the ocean virgin... only fished for salmon out of a PB a few times... never fished for rockfish or ling... and never ocean fished out of a kayak.

With that being said, I do have one speedy kayak and spent a bit of time in some nasty conditions on the bay this past winter.  What I really need is some fishing pointers from the oh-so-very-experienced-hardcore-fish-slaying Norcal Kayakers Bodega Crew, like, uh, "don't stick your hand in the mouth of the ling" and "don't let those sharp little thingies on the back of that rockfish poke your hand or you'll be sorry!"  :smt003

By the way, weather's looking good for tomorrow, so count me in.  I won't be fishing in the tourny... just want to tag along and see how the pros do it.  Is everyone meeting at the farmhouse?  Time?

Why aren't you fishing the tourney?? It seems newbies have the best chance of winning. Your chances are as good as anyones elses.
The first tourney I was even in was at Santa Cruz. That's how I found about NCKA. Didn't even know it existed until Joel paddled up to me and said hello.
And the winner was a 32 lb. halibut by a guy who had never even been in a kayak before.
Do I have the facts straight Alex??

Hey Tote,

I'm not fishing the tourny because I'll probably have to bug out early... say noon-ish, to hang with the wife and girls at Doran Beach.  We live in Santa Rosa, so they're planning on coming out a little later in the day, instead of at the insane hour of O-dark-30.

You going to fish out of Doran?

Folks

The weather is incredible at the ranch, OMG.  Uminchu and I PB'ed yesterday.  The salmon fishing is not as hot as it was the past couple days, but fish are still being caugth.  Sounds like the bite is a really early one.  Most fish where caught before 8AM.  A friend of mine hit the evening bite and landed a 36lb hen in between Bodege Head and the rock....which is about 1/4 mile from shore.  It might be worth shot to hit it this eveing!  The forcast for tomorrow is still good, I expect it to be FAC in the AM.  For those who will be showing up this afternoon.  Someone should be around...I have to make a trip to town for supplies and will try to be home by 3PM.  If I am not there I will probably be on the yellow kayak out in front of the house.

Look forward to seeing you all

Jim
