I do hope this issue can be resolved in a positive way that will start the healing process with MBK.

I think this is exactly why there are positive comments being stated.  We all would love to give the benefit of the doubt here and have a positive outcome.  The door is open for that to occur.  It's just that it hasn't occurred yet ...

I'd like to thank you all for discussing this in a civil manner.

I've been around a long time, yet I didn't know the history behind all of this either.

Thanks for the heads up....and I love "seeing" civilized discussions such as this one.

We humans are not perfect sometimes.  I wanted to be positive to a positive move by MBK especially because of the old history.  They are new to this sort of event and perhaps didn't think about the importance of supporting the hard work of keeping fishing sustainable.  I really appreciate Chuck pointing out that this was missing when he noticed it....I didn't notice it at first either.

Dang!!!! I jsut made a giant post and erased it all!!!!!!! shoot!

I'm tired and wrung out after a week in Kauai.  didn't see this post till tonight, so want to give a quick response.

I am not offended in the least by Chuck's post, this is a legitimate question. the short version is support with proceeds from this derby to a sustainable fisheries org was always part and parcel of the MBK Derby.  I'm urging the Monterey Bay Salmon and Trout project, because it's my favorite. Local, effective, and always in need of support both physical and financial.  Other possibilities were United Anglers or coastside.  I'm pretty sure it will be MBSTP.

I did not post that info because it is not fuly decided which org will benefit.  It may be because I know chuck and know he is not a rabble-rouser type of guy, I would have answered pretty simply.  With the extent of this thread, I feel a more thorough response is appropriate, and I'll have to do it tomorrow, cause I'm too brain-dead tonight.

Oh yeah, I will also post a fihing report from Kauai.  Let's just tease you with the words "triple digits........."

Aloha

Thanks to you, too, Pat.  Hope you make it to the Derby.

1st prize is a new OK Trident!  yeehaw!! can't wait to paddle one of these new boats.

I checked with Tara today, and the Monterey Bay Salmon and Trout project is officially the designated beneficiary for this derby.  ALL proceeds beyond the actual cost of the derby will be sent to MBSTP, so the more peole entering, the bigger the contribution will be.

Tara reminded me to urge people to pre-register if possible, so we can be best prepared with an accurate estimate of the number of people to expect on Derby Day...(food,, parking, etc.)

Elk, I believe, is the weekend of 11/12.  I talked to Bill before scheduling the MBK.  We figured a couple weeks to rest would be appropriate.

Hey SCAllen,

I too appreciate you getting back to us on the MBK issue. After learning the political history and all, this will give MBK an opportunity to show their support for our local fisheries and gain support from those who enjoy this sport. I really hope we have a good turnout from NCKA. I have taken care of registering for the event so this ROOKIE is in :smt003. Also, check your PM.

See you there
Ben
