Silver Lake Conditions

Does anyone know if Silver Lake is frozen over? Trying to maybe head up and do some ice fishing. Can't seem to find out any place to figure out if it is.

I passed silver lake begin of November on my way back from tahoe. I would be interested if you decide to make your way up there.

kit carson lodge probably closed 4 winter, but the folks at nearby caples lake may know as well.

I just called, not answering because of the shutdown.

I am going to try and get ahold of my neighbor who is an an Amador Co sheriff deputy.

Heard back from my neighbor, tight lines... 

One of the deputies assigned to search and rescue said that Silver lake won't freeze completely but the coves near Kay's resort should be frozen, which is a popular spot for photographers. People looking to ice fish will go a bit further up hwy 88 past kirkwood to Caples lake at the Amador/Alpine county line. 

Full and frozen a couple of weeks ago. Temps Close to single digits at night. Good to go

There is most likely some open water since there has been some "decent" weather.  Think I will head up on Sunday  with my 14 footer and see what is up.
7.5 lb brown and a 12 lb mac have been caught up there in the last couple of years,  they are few and far between and you  have to work for them.
Will  get back to you...
