Do you guys like it when someone you dont know sees you on the water and approaches you to say hi, or do you prefer to be left alone?

Last couple times I went out, I didnt approach others because I wasnt sure if that was something that was appreciated or not.

I like it.  Some don't.  We do all share a common hobby so that's a plus.

I like it when folks come by to say hi and check to see how things are going.
No pedals, no problem.

It used to be more of a thing than it is today. Seeing another kayak fisherman that you didn’t know was uncommon 10 years ago. It was natural to introduce yourself. Today there’s probably 3-4 times as many people doing it than there was 10 years ago, and it would be tiring to be like the greeter at Walmart talking to everyone at a popular area.

Always wave first :smt006 . If you don't get anything back it might be a sour puss your looking at  :smt012 :smt062 . During a tournament, generally it is a 50 ft margin so as to not crowd a fellow angler or Scare fish off their spot. I'm One of those that will come up and talk to folks and offer advice on what to use if they are not getting fish. I'll also ask what they are using to get fish. I generally carry several of the "Good" on that lake baits, to loan out or gift. It's fun to get out and be "BROTHERS" on the water. You never know when or if shit might go sideways. Good to know those around you. Ya, I'm the loud guy that talks while fishing so, some don't like me around. Just a nice, "hey, I came out for solitude and quiet today." can let another know that they are not being rude or unfriendly, just want space and quiet. Respect and communication on the water works..... See ya on the water... :beer2

my new name should be Ostridge. Got my head in the sand. Going fishing and letting go of the other stuff I can't control anyway!

A wave is good  :smt006

If you see a diver please stay away. There's plenty of ocean out there.
Unless you just saw a shark  :shark then make a beeline towards him  :smt003

I don’t mind having a little chit chat with a stranger otw but if I’m out on a aoty mission then I got things to do lol. If we meet back on the beach then I’ll hang out. If I’m just enjoying the day kayak fishing and someone runs into me otw and they’re looking for company maybe for the safety factor then I’ll hang out for the day but I’m still going to hit my spots. If you wanna come along great if not that’s cool too I’ll meet up on the way back.

I always beeline for whoever has their rod bent.   Fish out their spot, and then ask how they're doing.   :smt044

I typically give them their space and keep my distance and just give a wave to say hi.  I don't get too close unless they start talking and I can't quite hear them.

If you ain't first, you're last.

If you see Rbark on the water, make sure to come up out of his field of vision and yell at him to get his attention.  Works great.
