If you see Rbark on the water, make sure to come up out of his field of vision and yell at him to get his attention.  Works great.

That guys such a dick. Always ignores me.

I always beeline for whoever has their rod bent.   Fish out their spot, and then ask how they're doing.   :smt044

This! Except why bother to ask how they are doing?

I enjoy chatting on the water. You'll know if I don't want to talk to you anymore.  :smt003

I will just paddle away from you.

Be sure to let em know youÂ’ve marked the spot as well. Maybe it can be your meetup spot lol

I usually fish mid week so I don’t see many other people. I like to wave to everyone to be nice but unless it’s on my way I won’t go out of my way to come over and chat. I usually carry extra lures that I know work and tend to give them away to people who look like they aren’t doing well.

A wave is good  :smt006

If you see a diver please stay away. There's plenty of ocean out there.
Unless you just saw a shark  :shark then make a beeline towards him  :smt003

+1.

That being said, when I see a fellow kayak diver (while I'm also diving), I like to go up to see if I know them. Since I dive solo a lot, I sometimes ask if I can dive with them if they don't mind. I've never been told no. In fact, I've made many close dive friends that way. I also don't mind if I'm approached. If you're already that close to "my honey hole" then you likely already know about it too ;)

I opened this thread and read the first post and I was like, how long before someone mentions me?  :smt005

I always wonder to myself how many NCKA'ers think I am a total dick when they run into me OTW.

I mean, y'know, until they actually meet me and remove all doubt.

People would wave at me and I'd wave back, but that always backfired because then they know I noticed them and start talking to me and I'm over here like ummmm yeah this is awkward right about now.

So now I just pretend really hard I don't see anyone.

The prescription sunglasses that I wear on the water are old... so most of the time I can't see who the hell anyone is if they're out past 50 feet of me.

And, I wear a mask for UV protection so anytime I try to talk, it's all mumbly anyway.

I just give a nod or wave these days and keep on truckin'   :smt006

I usually hail them on the radio.  If they don't have a radio or don't answer if they do, then I don't want to talk to them.  Either they are not prepared for the conditions or they want to be left alone.  Either way, I'm not going to get involved.

Do you guys like it when someone you dont know sees you on the water and approaches you to say hi, or do you prefer to be left alone?

Last couple times I went out, I didnt approach others because I wasnt sure if that was something that was appreciated or not.
It doesn't matter what I'm doing at the time.  If you see me hanging out in my mango hobie, come on over and I might have a shooter of rum waiting for you.
