Suicide by shark?

I can’t quite figure out whats going on here. But it almost seems like this guys was trying to commit suicide by shark.

I applaud that crazy, dumb bastard for teaching that shark that kayaks and people are NOT food.   

Looks like he's testing some kind of shark deterrence device to me.

Suicide would have been to splash around or run from it.

I look at the video frame-by-frame from 2:34 - 2:45.  He jumped onto water to retrieve the 3 white things (I think they're some kind of shard deterrence devices).  I could be wrong about the device but he definitely not fell in.

He should drive north and photograph the girth-ier ones at ano.
