Dude!!!  What the??? This thread has escaped me this whole time.  All of a sudden I came across it and I can say I'm a little shocked(in a good way).  What happened to mooch's sillouette?  We cant go 4 colors on it and still make it look nice?

I really think their all nice but the one of me freaks me out.  I'd be more comfortable if I was a skeleton on the kayak with a great white in the background.  Other than that, why cant you have 2 emblems or 3 or 4?

My ideas.  I haven't any photoshop skills...  the jtf siloutte with the nba basketball badge in the background.  it would be red blue and black.

the social distortion skeleton tweeked out with a pole on a kayak sideways,

the navigation/compass symbol in bsteves post with the paddle and rod, very cool.  front emblem perhaps.  just NCKA underneath it.  some kinda cool font.

The reason for the skeletons is the fact that we kayak in some of the most dangerous waters in the world along with south africa and australia. I dont know.

Since I'm home, i might try my hand at some stuff today.  Geeez, was anyone gonna tell me you guys were drawing pictures of me??? :smt044

Okay, I spent some time during my lunch hour to clean up the fishing rod and paddle.  I think this will be final submission unless I find myself inspired after I put my son to bed tonight.

JTF... don't get such a big head... posterboy! :smt003
I do like that idea of having more than one graphic logo... but we need to find one that identifies us so we can begin branding it on our homepage.

Not that I'm not down with all the serene paddling pics but I'd like to see something different.  When I see logo's with plain big block print or straight edge design I tend to ignore them cause there's a billion others out there just like them.  Images need to have pop or some type of attention grabber to them to get noticed.  Kayak fishing(most of it anyway)  is like the X Games of Angling, IMO it needs something a little edgier.  I've met plenty of "normal" people here but what we do is nothing close to normal. This logo should represent that.  The GWKC is a great design, EK's jolly roger is good too.

I modified the star to be a compass rose as a symbol of adventure and added a paddle and rod to represent kayak angling.  I could probably find a better compass rose or maybe the crossed kayaks would work.  I also think Erik's font is a bit clearer and still in line with the whole concept.  Do you have a font name Erik?

Brian

The star pictured on norcal gear is the Nautical Star. Pulled this off the net, its actually pretty cool.

"NAUTICAL STAR - The nautical star is a very old modern tattoo, going back at least a century or more. Back in the days of yore, before modern navigation, sailors would navigate in part by the stars in the night skies, in particular the North Star in the Northern Hemisphere, and various other constellations of stars in the night sky. In the Southern Hemisphere, sailors had to use different stars and the Southern Cross became quite well-known. Sailors would then tattoo nautical stars on them because they relied on the stars to take them home, and being superstitious, they hoped their star tattoos would get them home safely as well.
Compass stars are also popular for this reason. The nautical stars were originally used by sailors to help guide their way as they sailed through the night. They relied upon the stars to protect them and bring them home safely. "

EDIT:  That NCKA ling posted is awesome too.

I like this the best: one color design, simple but it says a lot  :smt002

....just need to fix the rod and the line....and....no offense jtf, we need to put more meat on those legs :smt003 (luv ya John :smt002)
I also think we can get rid of the fish finder just to keep the deck clean and simple.

While we're brainstorming, I have to say, when I came across this post, I found it had a battle-cry quality to it - I think it's worthy of a T-Shirt all by itself...with JTF's permission...

Oh, no, I like it! I'd like to see a sans-serif font instead, but other than that I think it's a nice clean design! This group sure is talented!

I totally agree.  I see the things I like in every new design.  It's a tough task trying to please this big group, but I just love seeing the teamwork.
