I really like the our current logo. It is the only thing I have ever done that is remotely artistic. However the logo does not work well for anything other than the web. We can't get nice silkscreen shirts or cool banners etc. It has way to many colors. I have a friend of mine come up with some new options as well as a rework of the current logo, below are the results. If you have an idea for the logo please post it here as well. After the winner of this group is chosen we will have a run-off between it and any user submitted logos. Logos should be kept under 5 colors. Here we go:

Version #1

Version #2

Version #3

Version #4

Version #5

I chose #2. It most resembles the original and I think sums up NCKA rather nicely.

I like the simple design of #2 also.

Personally, I thought the initial logos didn't look very professionally drawn.  Maybe that was the intent, to look more cartoonish.  I thought that Skygreen's were more stylistically pleasing.  Maybe a more rectangular, rather than squarish version would work.

I like #2. #4 scares me...the less number of colors, the less complicated and cheaper it will be to create.

I agree with Marmite.   Our objective should be a simple but professional logo that looks in good in all media and sizes.

I say we give Skygreen a chance to come up with a few more alternatives given her talents.

Shouldn't there be blood in the logo?

Hojoman.... did you create your own avatar logo?

I like it.  It's got that cool simple image that would look good on stickers, t-shirts, hoodies, hats, and other schwag.

Wow! What a talent! I think your logo alternatives in Reply #6 are VERY classy, Skygreen (especially the blue one). I do hope you say "yes" to ChuckE's invitation.

I'd be lying if I said I did. My ex-boss' daughter was in art school in San Diego and I gave her an unspecified financial incentive to create a personal logo for me for the same purposes that you mentioned...she was well rewarded. It was created before my interest in getting into kayak fishing.
