Insane and I started out at my place around 0510hrs. and traveled to HMB after loading Duane's Yak. 40 minutes later we were there unloading and feeling good. One of our main objectives was to get Duane's crab traps in the water and see how the whole system worked out.
As we passed into the mouth of HMB a real jerko#% with twin OB motors in a 20 to 25' Osprey goosed his motors about 20' to 25' from me and I was pulled into his wash as he and his crew seemed to take great joy in seeing me capsize. If your reading this jerko#% I hope we meet again I would love to shake your hand and tell you what an outstanding fool you are. I guarantee that your wrist and elbow will not look right.
As it was Duane and I continued passed the green can where we sat on about 8' swells with a northernly drift. It got pretty gnarly so Duane and I returned to the harbor where I caught a very nice perch.
Duane soaked his pots for awhile and deployed all three with out mishap. I'll let Duane tell the rest of the story.

It was nasty at HMB but still had a good time because I got to help my good friend get back on his kayak this was my first time helping someone who was capsize it felt good That I and frank handle it so well no thanks to the asshole that was the cause of it all. :smt013

As for my crabbing system it was a good first run still have some kinks to workout But I think it will be a big success with a little work. The buoys work great better Then I thought. It felt good that I was not limited to any depth with 310 feet of line
I think I could crab anywhere for me it was a great day can’t wait to do it again.

Ps for my next project I plan to make a torpedo system I think 2 pounds off plastic Explosives will do the trick anyone want bet that I can do it.  :smt005

Frank and Duane, sorry to hear about the jackass in the boat.  Seriously, more people need to carry their digital cameras for people like this.  I have a couple pics already.  I keep them in my camera and whenever I land at the marina I walk around the lot before I leave to see if they are there.  You know, just want to be courteous to our fellow fishermen.

Better yet, with the pic, some form of retaliation(say like the legal kind :smt002) is alot easier.

I've pretty much come to the conclusion that whatever happens with boats zingin by me, I'm not gonna get mad unless they are intentionally malicious.  Part of kayaking is being able to handle adverse conditions, wakes from boats have never upended me.

It does seem though that with time, the presence of kayaks has started to annoy some.  Common haterism.  Its common in many other hobbies where there are different disciplines used to.   In your case Frank though, this is malicious.  I really wish you guys would have got a picture.

Unfortunately, the kind of person who would do something so inconsiderate doesnt strike me as the kind of person who is gonna pay any notice to someone making threats to them on a computer message board.  So in the meanwhile, kayak anglers should always be alert and have a whistle, reflective clothing, and some form of torpedo launcher.  JTF..

I think at one point all of us have or will have that miscreant who revels in watching us flip.  I ride my bicycle a lot and have to say that 95% of all drivers are great.  However that 5% is really annoying.  Unfortunately with the Pbers, I think 50% are great, 25% are clueless, 20% are drunk and again that 5% of #$&%*.

If you fish the same waters a lot, try to get a name of the boat and make.  Often you can ask around and find the owner.  No much use with the drunks or the 5% but we have hope for the clueless!

I had a similar experience at Discovery Park many years ago with the exception that I was in a 14' aluminum boat. Some jerk in a BIG cabin cruiser thought it was funny to goose the engines to see how big a wake he could put out. He roughed us up pretty good but he almost capsized a father/daughter in a 12' aluminum.
The guy gave laughed his @ss off as he went on his way. BIG MISTAKE. I waited for him at the dock. As I saw him cruising in I walked to the end of the dock. He saw me and left. So I waited. About 1/2 hour later he came back, saw me, and left again. Happened several times as I didn't have to be anywhere soon. The last time I saw him pull away from the dock it was 10:30pm. I figured I made my point by then.
Sometimes you just gotta take a stand.

I figure the speargun in your hands added to the effect :brave:

glad to hear one jerk had to check his shorts and sweat it out.  Odds are he's been scared straight.

OK so we all add a battleax or spear to our rear rod holders...

Hey danglin,

so if they are making up for their lack of manhood with a big boat, what does that say about a bunch of guys in yaks?  I guess we are secure in who we are!

My point is there is a responsibility to having a powerboat, and using it in a Assaultive or even Battering behavior is illegal...

I'm not sure how "Macho" and assaultive ya can get with a Kayak....

As far as our " Old Man in the Sea " Complex, I don't think we are hurting anyone but ourselves...

Most of us can't afford a Kayak Taxi... :smt010...

Glad you're ok Frank, that A hole deserves a good dunkin in out at Mav's for that. Since most of do carry cams now I think JTF is right. Snap a pic and take it to the harbormaster (if we're launching out of 'em). If enough people report these turds, they might just lose their priviledges and get stuck back on their lazyboys where they belong.

And freakin' good on ya Tote.. you're my hero!!  :smt066

Some of the Coastsiders are talking about this...apparently a few of them don't believe your story:

http://www.coastsidefishingclub.com/forums/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/463539/an/0/page/0#463539

You should try to track this asshole down. I was almost swamped by a guy's wake once right in the harbor jaws as well. This guy was nice enough to loop around and make sure i was ok, though.
May the fish be mighty and the seas be meek...
