ps Clayman, you forgot to mention the Spey guys who look down on the regular fly guys.  Love to hook up with my spinning setup right in front of the spey guys who wouldn't say hello back to us.....

Bushy
You’re right, those snooty Spey guys!  They even frowned on the fly-guys fishing nymphs under an indicator.  Back in college, my Trinity River fishing buddies called me the Barbarian because I would usually use gear and they were always fly fishing.  It was fun, I’d be the guy in the back of the boat who would slam fish on roe or a spinner after the guy on the bow and the guy on the sticks fished flies through the same run and came up empty-handed.  Good times.

I imagine there were plenty of people saying a tournament won with a Hobie needs an asterisk.

Yes, you would imagine.  I don't think I've ever heard anyone claim that.  Seriously ...

This guy nailed it all kayaks used to be paddel driven now there's options like peddling kayaks and soon electric motors on kayaks will be just as popular so the same Change will take place to allow power kayaks it simply going to happen

Look at it from a tournament director's point of view: over half (at least) of the active people on this site use pedal kayaks.  Most of those people enjoy the idea of getting to use their pedal kayaks in a tournament.  So a tourney director is going to change their rules to accommodate for maximum participation.  Simply Fishing is a great

So when the numbers are right powered kayaks will be allowed for the same responds he stated
As far as all that stuff about power boats vs human power I don't care what kind of boat oh or kayak or show it's moved in the wTer I care about fishing
Just wait until we see another 30 percent increase in electric kayaks and they are bitching about peddle kayaks having better speed and range because so far the elect group only run one battery so yes they can speed along to the spot but at full power may only be able to run a motor for 2 hours and have to paddle back vs peddling a hobbie revo 16 that's 2 times as fast both ways so the e guys will be saying I spent all this money and those Dam peddle kayaks are unfair
There a few electronics guys on here that can verify the limits of e power
And remember most e yaks are standups so slower and heavier you get to row all that back when your battery dies

All kayaks are a compromise  ?

And for all of you commenting on how there's information thank you for letting me know but that wasn't my question I asked for ideas not to tell me where those ideas are at if you don't like what i post don't comment. It's simple all the negativity is not needed. I could careless if there's a post where as long as you follow every instruction you'll land a fish. I could careless if there's a post about an exact lure to use and you'll be guaranteed to catch at least one fish. I simply asked for some ideas and I added that I had no trolling motor on my kayak in case some of you use it while fishing for salmon. I mean really guys your all making it seem like I want someone to hold my hand and I've never asked for such thing. Wanna share your ideas. Cool thank you but if you have no correct answer to what I've asked and I mean specifically for what I've asked, simply shut the fuck up and don't post on anything I put up/ post.

There is no doubt that using motor is a clear advantage vs paddling.  But the same can be said with pedals and sails.  Having a motor is also a plus to bring out folks that otherwise can't compete if it's a pedal/paddle category.  Perhaps the equalizer is a handicap point system (like golf), if it is, the question is how.   I am OK with whatever method since I do both pedal and paddle (and motor in the future).  But, personally, I think banning a motor completely is not the answer.  I hate to think that we can't give opportunity to join in for those who can't paddle/pedal.  I know this is could be a religious-like question, but perhaps there is a serious merit on having this discussion?
Seems that a thoughtful person/director could develop a set of disabled rules. My brother is a disabled veteran with stamina issues. He has a Power yak,he isn't allowed to compete in the biggest tournament at a place where he's fished over 30 years. He is self sufficient ,could self rescue no problems, probably has more saltwater experience than the vast majority of the participants. But "sorry, thanks for your service but you can't play" , why not just ask for Proof? Why exclude a portion of the community? If speed is an issue impose a
Iimit,if range is an issue, impose a limit. If it's just for fun and prizes are "token" then why the Exclusion? If you can prove a disability that's not taking advantage. Seems wrong my brother got sprayed with agent orange protecting this country and the effects let him be further screwed by purists who think their way is the only proper way. I hope as others here have said minds can be opened to allow all to join the contest.
