Well, the group photo says it all.  What an amazing day on the water!  Great spot, great company, most excellent fishing, and the first sun burn of the year.  I'd say it was epic... four boated sturgeon, two keepers, one shoulda been keeper, and one that got away... numerous stripers, a flounder, and a catfish.  Danglin, Montezuma Slough is SWEET!

Kudos to Erik K. from myself for the assist on boating my sturgeon.  I'm sure he was thinking "stupid newb... doesn't have a snare, doesn't have a thumper, but he still wants to take his little sturgy home... guess I'll go bail him out." :smt003  Erik actually did everything but fight the fish.  I won't even tell you that I almost called him over when I foul hooked a striper... I swear it felt like a sturgeon.  :smt001  Anyway, thanks again Erik.

You guys should have seen the way the sturgeon were jumping around Chuckie's kayak.  I couldn't believe it... it was like they HAD to get in his boat.  We must've seen at least four or five splashes in the first few hours.  The first one was huge.  The sturgeon was totally airborne out of the water... big guy too.  Talk about frustrating... there's five guys around Chuckie's yak, and all the fish are in his lap.  Unreal.

Anyway, I'm beat... time for bed.

Hey Backslider... no thanks required.  You did a great job tiring that fish out on your steelhead rod with 20# test and just barely hooked.  I'm glad I got to at least play a role in the action since I sure as heck wasn't getting any myself.

Very good work everyone... it was Sturgeonfest 2007 for sure.

Hey Backslider... congrats to you too!

I want everyone to know that some of the pix are a little deceiving because Backslider's beautiful 56" dino was actually an inch bigger than mine.

Chuck... I'm bringing a big 'ol can of mojo for you... you're GOING TO hook up on this day!

The spooky thing is that I'm beginning to believe that "The Sturgeon King" willed this to happen. :smt087

Nice Job guys I am so jealous Congratulations Chris, Mark and Chuck. Wow great group Photo, Lotta talent there surprised there are not more Dino's hanging. Chuck thats a cool place for Ducks also. Before I married a bird lover a buddy and I used to keep a 12' aluminium at that small harbor below the ramp. The hunting was not great but sometimes we got lucky and brought home birds , striper's and dinos.
