Long-range forecast currently shows 9-12' swells this Saturday along the north coast.  Hopefully some yakkable water pans out.  I'll post an update by midweek.

The Ocean Gods tell me they are going to give us a break! They know we aim to test our mettle against the king of all fish. Our children are looking at as longingly-Father, where is the salmon? Snell your hooks, Polish your boats, Get that year old anchovie bait out of the freezer, cause this weekend it's on. It won't be pretty, expect potential disaster, but in a group we can do it.

Wailaki campground 5:00 pm Friday for a launch scout, if it's blown out theres always the Mattole

I'll be there.
Hopefully we'll make it to the campground by 2pm Friday.
There s/b a blue Honda Odysee van with a yellow scrambler and a blue drifter on top (or next to it). There will probably be a red Toyota 4Runner too.

I was hoping this string would be started by now.  PK and I have a travel plan and only the worst forecast will stop us now.  I sounds like we will have a group.  I will keep my eye out for your updates Abking.  Now I only need to make it through 4 days of work this week without being too distracted by the weekends potential.

PK, If we want to leave on Thursday evening, I usually do not get back to Seaside until 6 or so after work.  Driving early Friday is sounding better but I can still be flexible.

Dudes!
According to this swell forecast predictor we are going to time it perfectly!
Check out the swell from 120 hours to 144 hours --- thats Saturday and Sunday. Appears to be 6-9 ft W swell.

I hope this is accurate!

Oh boy, oh boy, the forecast has improved and we should hope it stays that way or trends even better!  The shot below is for 5AM Saturday as these forecast pages are in "Zulu" time I think.  5-7' water building just a bit into the afternoon!  If the winds are light we're loving it.  Be sure to have some rain gear.  I drive a blue Silverado pickup with my blue Scrambler XT in the back and a big smile on my face if the water looks at all inviting.  I'll try to come down Friday, but it may have to be Saturday early.

I'm expecting there will be some wind outside of the Cove. Drysuits would be optimal. I'll be driving a White X-terra pulling a trailer with green X-Factor and blue Xtreme. I can be to the campground by 2:00 pm if anyone wants to go for a friday afternoon paddle.

As of now the forecast describes Friday as 10' or more of swell and subsiding.  I'm not ruling out coming down Friday, but Saturday and Sunday are definitely looking nicer at this point.

I believe that PK and I will leave Monterey early Friday morning so we should be there by about 2 PM as previously reported by PK.  With the swell forecast in mind, I do not see much benefit in arriving late Thursady night plus it will be a real push to get organized and out after work Thursday.  Probably better to just get organized and loaded up Thursday evening including food, drinks and bait and head up early Friday.

A dry suit would be nice but I will have to deal with my wet suit and accessories.  I will probably bring two wet suits so I do not have to don a wet one on Sunday or Saturday if we go out Friday afternoon for a recon.

Tent and rain gear are already staged.

If the WX allows, we should try to get out for a quick paddle on Friday afternoon. Maybe go out and drop the traps..?
Is it still only Monday?!

True but this is already the week from hell as never stopped last week.  I worked the weekend and still have a huge pile plus taking this Friday off.  I am not sure how ready I can be but I like the idea of recon and dropping traps more than I hate putting on a damp wet suit on a cold morning.  I am doubting that anything will dry up there at this time of year.  Just have to make it through three more days......

Dropping pots off on friday sounds like a plan. I'll arrive early on Friday and set up my camp at the BLM campground off Chemise mtn rd. I'll try to be on the shore by 2:00 for dust up. If I miss anyone I'll put a call out on 69.
