Just recently got back from my vacation i the PI and brought back more tradition wooden handline reels!

Several have inquired about having a strictly "handline" fishing tourney (MBF style) to see who can catch the biggest fin creature in the water.

We are looking at San Leandro Marina area Alameda Rockwall to launch and will be targeting whatever is in the water; sturgies, sharks, rays, stripers, halis, etc....

You can either used your own handline reel or you can buy one of the ones I just brought back; quantities are very limited..

$10 MBF + $15 for the handreel (you gotta bring your own line  :smt003)

I only have limited number SOLD OUT  of Wooden Hand Reels (Qty: 0 left) and it will be on a "first pay, first get" system; if you want it, Paypal me at [email protected] and I will reserve one for you. Even if you don't make it, the hand reel will still be yours and the MBF money will still go into the Pot. Open to all non-motorized vessels; including AI, kayaks, Canoes and SUPs.

Anymore interested?

I'm in. Sounds like fun.

I know nothing about handreel fishing. Please tell me, what's the advantage, or disadvantage on the size of the reel?

Al

Since I only have a limited number of handreels and want to promote the sport of handling fishing, the $15 price of the wood. Hand reels only applies to those participating in the handling tourny; and not currently for sale separately.

I apologize for any confusion for the lack of disclosing this early.

Thanks,

Glen

larger reels hold more line; for handlining you you want thicker diameter line so it doesnt cut your hand. I used between 100lb-150lb mono for the main line..

also one wrap around a larger reel takes up more line than a small reel....

plus, the bigger hand reels look cooler! the majority of these are 10"x 2"...
