4th of July at the cove is a good time!!

You only say that because you never tried to steal a dope grower's dog at the campground onthe 4th of July before.

Hey Eric.  I'm in favor of doing whatever we can to lessen any negative impact to the locals and the cove but I don't understand the complaints regarding trash and services.  Isn't that covered by the fees we pay to the campground?  They didn't have enough receptacles to handle the load last year but that would seem to be an issue for the campground owner to resolve.  If the fees aren't adequate to cover the costs, he needs to raise the fees.  I'm not advocating higher fees for campers but if that would solve the trash problem, I would be willing to pay my fair share.  I agree with Crash that there are many ways the local businesses could better take advantage of our group.  Marketing to us would be far more productive than complaining.  Pizza, coffee, cocktails, groceries, snacks..............  Lots of opportunities.

I hope everyone knows, I'm not picking sides, hell, I live here and and I'm a kayaker. I try to get along with as many as possible, but I can't please everyone.
I just wanted to let the group know what is being relayed. Jack (in my opinion) should be the last person to complain about anything. But there are some valid points that should be addressed. Not everyone in the Cove is an angry pot grower, there are many nice people and family's also.
I like the two solutions, but before a solution, you need to be aware of the issues.

I'm not looking to kill the messenger.  I'm just saying that relaying complaints without solutions is just relaying bitching and ain't nobody got time for that.  Acting as liaison is an art precisely because of the tendency to kill the messenger.  So let them know that we are willing to buy what they are selling but make it convenient for us.  Key to that is letting us know that they exist in the first place.  As for Jack, he's a decent guy who has always helped us before.  As long as you don't trash the campground and especially don't clean your fish at the campground, you'll get along with Jack just fine and he might even go out of his way to help you.  If he's spitting complaints about making money that's just Jack and I wouldn't worry about that too much.

As for the thread topic, I'm still willing to do the grocery run for the tritip sandwiches as I'll be back and forth from the cove at least once and probably twice that week.  And I still want one sandwich.

Hey Eric, No stones being thrown by me.  If there's anything I can do to make GS and life at the cove better, I'm happy to do it.  I actually think there's a lot of very positive things being posted in the thread.  Being a "local" and a kayaker puts you in a very interesting place that really should benefit the locals and us yakkers.  I don't see this as in issue with "sides" to be taken.  You perception and observations will be a welcome new perspective and I intend to follow your lead to make this the best GS ever.  Look forward to seeing you and Verna soon, my friend and fellow Screw!

I had no idea there's other local businesses in the area. We'll be there for 5 or 6 days and would be happy to visit and do business with them.

A detailed listed of the local businesses and services would certainly help.

Thanks,
Al

We would've loved to been there for tri tip sandwiches and have supported the lighthouse. Unfortunately the announcement was made too late for us to take advantage of it.  In my opinion the date should've been set earlier .  Is it possible that we're planning our family meals further in advance then they're planning a community fund raiser? As far as anyone living on the end of a super long county maintained road complaining about outsiders goes, meh.

Yes, this would be very handy. I didn't know there was a pizza joint.

I get coffee and some food at the coffee shop every day I'm there. I get pizza at least once, I buy beer and food at the campground store.

Complaining about the trash bugs me. When there is a full campground, there is a lot of trash. If there is a full campground, campers have paid a lot of cash.

IMO, there is certainly enough funds to cover the trash. Do they complain to campers on the 4th of July? I doubt it.

No one in our group should have to haul away trash, empty cans or be complained to about this. In many places, an event like this would be given incentives for coming back, not grief about trash.

If the coffee shack opened at 6am the weekend of the tournament, and partnered with Delgada pizza to sell to starving anglers coming up the ramp at noon, they would be rolling in the dough, pun intended.

Sorry this thread hit a bad cord, I was just relaying some observations in hopes to build a better relation .... Boy did I miss it on that one.
Also, I'll try to post things like this sandwich deal earlier ... Didn't know 2 months was too late ... Sorry
