Sorry this thread hit a bad cord, I was just relaying some observations in hopes to build a better relation .... Boy did I miss it on that one.
Also, I'll try to post things like this sandwich deal earlier ... Didn't know 2 months was too late ... Sorry

I don't think you missed anything, you're just getting up to speed.  Welcome to Humboldt!

I think it's great that you are in a position to act as liaison between the fishermen and the local SC business community.  Try not to take anything anyone says personally and try to get people to understand the power they have to solve their own problems.  The person with the problem is the one that needs to present the solution.  Get to that point and the rest should take care of itself.

Sorry for not posting more on this sooner, but I just got the final details.
Looks like the Tri-Tip Sandwich's will be served on Friday the 20th from 4 till 7pm. At the park near the light house.
I was told that the menu would be as follows:
......................................
P.S.
I was also asked what the participation count might be, so if you are planing, please post up...........

So eighteen days, but that doesn't matter.

18 days is a perfectly reasonable amount of time especially considering the two month heads up that it was in the works. If you made other plans that's fine but that's a you thing, not a yakhopper thing.

2 months, 18 days... plenty of time. It all works for me.

I'd be there with only 30 minutes notice!

Thanks for setting this up Eric. Your efforts are appreciated. We look forward to seeing you soon.

Al

There is a lot of people that stay at private houses and the day of the potluck and award contribute to the amount of trash left behind. The campground does not make any money from them unless you buy something from the store.  They sell a lot of cool stuff and also candy bars and ice cream. if you do not feel like cooking before driving home, they make a pretty good cheeseburger too.
By the way they also sell ice across the street at very reasonable price.

I hadn't considered that aspect of the trash situation.  Since this should be very similar to last year in terms of numbers, they will hopefully be proactive and have enough capacity for the group.  I think last year was the first time the event was held at the campground so it's conceivable that they just didn't know what to expect.

Jack has been up in arms about the trash thing for years now.
If he can't come up with a solution, considering the $25 a head per night bounty, then Oh well.

I haul out all my own trash.  It really isn't a problem, just the two of us.  I also use my own shower, toilet, water, electric.
I'm self contained!!  ha!

No worries, Eric. You're just saying what some locals are thinking. I've been hearing it for 9 years now...from random locals, friends, and my own family.

I still think it's a wonderful idea. And I believe the Lighthouse Assoc could benefit from some ancillary funding. I helped clean u pa few things inside the lighthouse last time I was there. Forgot the guy's name but I can probably arrange tours/limited access, if it would help increase interest and donations. Not sure what my kids are doing in this pic, but I swear they were helping haha!
