Had lunch with some of the local community members yesterday, and was asked to post and get feedback ....

The lighthouse here in Shelter Cove is in need of repairs. So some of the community members were thinking of selling Tri Tip Sandwich's at the park on the Friday before the event to raise funds to repair/modify the lighthouse. I know many will be arriving on Friday, and trying to settle in to their camp/hotel, so this might be of interest after a day of travel, to have some hot food available.
Personally, I like the idea, and it would also show the local community how much we appreciate this place.
Thanks for reading ....
Also, if intrested, please post your expected time of arrival at the Cove so they can figure best time (afternoon/late afternoon/evening)
Thanks again, and feel free to post your thoughts.
I will forward all responses to the community members

See ya in May

This is great, Eric!  I'll plan this as my family dinner for Friday evening.  The safety meeting is 5 to 6 at the launch, so I'd think that a dinner offering would go over well - it'll be low tide.  I'll promote this along with the safety meeting and will make sure people get multiple notices of the tri-tip sandwiches available for dinner Friday, May 20th at/after the GSX safety meeting at the ramp, if that becomes the plan.

What I like most about this is that you have become a connection between the SC business community and GS.  Let me know what is optimal on this, and I will do my best to fulfill that.

Thx, Bro.  :smt001

Great idea! I'll be there Weds so time isn't a factor for me.
Not sure if I 'll want a sandwich but I'll be more than happy to donate funds to repair the light house :smt001

Will there be a location that we can donate besides during the Tri-tip sale?

What a great way to help support the area and get to meet some of the locals.  I know my wife would enjoy fixing one less meal and it's that much less we have to pack too.

Forgot to add arrival time;
Thursday around noon.

I'm in for a sandwich.

I don't think the sandwich sales would impact the oyster feed much.  I was going to just pass along the oysters at cost like last yer - I'm not doing it fora  profit - but I could mark them up and give the proceeds to the lighthouse fund.  Eric, can you ask around if the organizers of the tritip sandwich feed are ok with the oyster feed "competition"?  Hell, maybe we could join forces.  I also probably have room if they want me to pick up the meat at C&C or costco or wherever and bring it down.

I think it would be nice to select a project at the cove and throw a bunch of money at it.

I'll be in the cove off and on all that week.  I'm 90% to make the salmon opener, we can talk then.  Let me know.

Lighthouse question I used to knock the crap out of the Pacific Halibut straight out off lighthouse  can you launch near it and can you drive to it?

Are you thinking of the punta gorda lighthouse?  The shelter cove lighthouse is in at delgada point right in town.  Drive to it and launch at the big launch in shelter cove or a stealth launch closer to the lighthouse, but yeah.

Punta gorda lighthouse is 3.5 miles or so from the parking lot with a stream crossing.  Not sure about roads without gates that would get you closer.  Surf launch near the mattole mouth is doable on a calm day.
