Sorry to hear your predicament.
My wife is in HR as well. I told her to keep her eye out for any openings.

I'm assuming you've looked at jobs here: http://www.nchra.org/

Yes! I'm a member of NCHRA, great organization.  I'm checking their job site every day, but most postings are for jobs in the bay area and the drive over the hill from Lodi would be pretty crazy.

Shhh! No one here drinks on the job  :smt003 There are several jobs to look into, as far as HR positions, and I'm betting becoming a manager of some sort would fit pretty well with your education/certifications. Not to sure about that side of things, again, I'm maintenance, but 3 free cases of beer a month ain't too bad for freebies! I'd just keep an eye on the site and openings, if you have any questions feel free to ask and I'll do my best to get the answer for you!

I started updating my "Linked In" account and realized that I also needed to update my photo! Huge kudo's and thanks to my friend Mary Humphrey   http://maryhumphreyphotography.com/ who helped me in-a-pinch to update my profile pic! She was wonderful - she didn't even charge me a fee, which was super sweet of her.

Thanks Novo! I thought she took some good ones, and this is the one I ended up using on Linked In. People look different when they aren't in their kayaks, haha.
We'll do beers the next time I see ya! Still thinking about the idea of a uke gathering in the next month or so - sounded like a fun idea.

Ya know, I am told that a lot.  :smt005  There are some pretty terrible HR people out there and I hear some crazy stories!
But don't let the smile fool you, I can be tough when needed. I am always straight-up and honest about how it is. I was working with Class A truckers in my last job and learned how to deal with a variety of situations (to say the least, LOL).

I second the suggestion to check with Lawrence Berkeley Lab. I worked at UC Davis for 40 years, and they were mostly very good employers. I got close-ups while acting a a bargainer for the Clerical union, and the HR people seemed to be very genuinely sorry they were not allowed by management to actually bargain in good faith as required. So check with them, UoP, Cal State Stanislaus (Stockton Campus), etc. there have to be jobs out there!
Warning! Retiree; Knows it all and has plenty of time to tell you about it.
