Another epic event Eric..
Thanks to you and all the contributors for your hard work for the group..
I think this was was 7th straight year....never dissapointed.

Love the time spending amongst friends and beautiful scenery.

Had chrome on my brain so I mostly trolled and trolled.. Figured that I'd maximize my opportunity to chase salmon where it's far more  accessible than my local waters... Came up short but I did manage to harvest some crab which wasn't too bad..

Stayed otw as long as I could to soak up this spiritual experience...even in the rain, the connection to the outdoors was mesmerizing....
Sharing this with the whales too was tops....

Congrats everyone for sharing in this awesome experience and community......we are so fortunate to have this in our lives.

Thanks, Everybody!  Really appreciate the kind words.  Please keep sharing your experiences from GS.

I just got back from Shelter Cove day before yesterday, had to hustle through family duties, wife's got her Open House at school, soccer practices, teenager stuff...etc., and on top of that I had to prep for a Trinidad Bay tour with a couple from Kentucky for Wednesday morning.  Well, all of that went fine, and I'm on overdrive and cruising.  :smt001  but I am still struggling with having enough time to fully poor out my thought on GSX.

Soon.  Soon.

First time at Shelter cove for GSX was absolutely amazing!! Got there Thursday evening and caught up with the homies and met some new people and enjoyed some amazing food. Went to bed early because we were going diving with our super cool sponsor, BigJim, the next morning.

Woke up Friday to nasty seas and thought that doesn't look very fun. Jim arrived and was ready in no time so we followed him out...that was a mistake :smt044 ended up thinking wtf are we doing out here and headed back! Good times on land ensued.

I got skunked on tourney day and stayed out for about an hour before I snagged the bottom and snapped off. It was an easy decision to head in considering the conditions.

Sunday was nice so Nick and I paddled out to abalone point. Fishing started out slow and I thought we might not bring home any fish. I was trolling frozen bait hoping to pick up a Cali Hali between the reefs. Saw some porpoises swimming towards us so I gave Nick a heads up and started paddling towards him. Next thing I know I'm getting circled by a pod of porpoises and was praying they wouldn't eat my bait.. All of a sudden my bait gets slammed!! Fish on! Nicks like damn Annie back at it again!! I thought I had a porpoise for a minute because I started getting towed and my line was peeling like crazy. Got it up and it was a ling just under 32 inches!

I was stoked to get my first shelter cove fish and get the skunk off! The Porpoises brought me some luck and it was definitely a special moment that I'll never forget! From there the fishing picked up and Nick and I were getting a bunch of lings but mostly smaller ones with a few 27-30 inchers mixed in! Caught some rockfish but only kept a couple. Headed in around lunchtime and called it a day since we still had to pack up camp and drive home!

The true highlights of the weekend were definitely on land. I'm so grateful to be apart of the family and I love meeting new people and reconnecting with my homies!! I had the best sponsor EVER- BigJim thank you for taking us under your wing and for everything you did for us and the event! It was an honor to work Jack's taco shack and I had so much fun making tacos and hanging with the crew!! Such a fun group of great people!! I was one of the lucky raffle prize winners and won the super badass custom gaff by Piscean! I am super stoked about it!!

I ate the most amazing food all weekend thank you especially to everyone at Shuland and to various camps!! I havent stopped thinking about the yellowfin poke, morels and bacon, cioppino, Chads famous Mac n cheese and omg those bloody Mary's!! Everything I ate was incredible and I loved trying new things! Thank you so much LoletaEric for all your hard work and putting on such a spectacular event- I'm so stoked for next year!!  :smt007

First words on this one is "10" AB bro".. If you don't know, well one day you may find out.  :smt044  :smt005

I'd have to agree with Annie on the stoke level of the GS event and how awesome of a time it was. So awesome, at times it was a blur to me, not sure if it was a food coma, fishing all day coma or beer coma, but either way it was a great time.

Words cannot describe how amazing this place and event is!!! I only wish I had even more time to spend with all of you!

EVERYONE I MET was amazing, this goes to show how great NCKA really is as a second family. Even still feeling like a youngin to the NCKA fam, I could not explain how cared for and welcomed I had felt by everyone I ran into. Even not knowing you guys by face, I was able to connect with you guys on killer levels of pure stoke. Which I would say is my report. GSX / Shelter Cove = Pure Stoke!

If you guys did not get a chance to see or stop by the Tides Inn, that place is amazing, which is partially the reason why I was almost the "fly by" type of guy in the camp ground. I had a room there that had the most gorgeous views, as well as amazing hosts. THANK YOU ERIC / Yakhopper and Verna for the ABSOLUTELY AMAZING hospitality.

I planned on having my own kayak delivered to me from Malibu while I was up there, which did not happen and Eric was so caring I was able to use his as well as get some of his Salmon and Ab techniques. Which he soon made me pretty jealous on, as within the first 10 mins of our first paddle together he had some Silver aboard.

Moments later.... BAM!!  I was hooked up too, however (being an idiot, having a foldable net, folded up in the mod pod area of his Trident 13) I had lost the beauty at the side of the boat while in a panic. I was determined from there on out to strictly fish for Salmon as I had never caught one from a yak before. I had some great hits, some good runs, but no Silver...

I fished all day of the Tourney for Salmon only, picking off lings on the way, but throwing them back hoping for the elusive one that got away. 1pm hit which caused another panic, I had no fish on the boat! So I paddled out to the light house point area and caught a few lings, brought it in and called it a day. I was so stoked to see all the great catches of that day as it truly was a very challenging and not to mention FREEZING day to be on the water (Of course I only had a 4/3 and jacket on).

What an amazing recourse after the event, with the potluck to the ceremony, as well as all the amazing prizes!! THANK YOU TO ALL THE SPONSORS AND GIFT / FOOD DONORS who were so generous to bring the amazing items you did. I will have to admit I was pretty stoked on the B2 Package I got! Not to mention the awesomeness of the Thresher being pushed on to the next event to raise even more great $$ for the cause!

Finally... THANK YOU ERIC STOCKWELL!!! This incredible journey for all of us would not have been possible if you did not come up with such an awesome event 10 whole years ago. It was great to finally meet you, spend time with you and learn some killer things from you as well... not to mention putting my tail between my legs about my 10" ab  :smt002  :smt005 THANK YOU AGAIN ERIC and EVERYONE!

I cannot wait to see you all at Albion! (Wish I took more photos, as the fishing after the event was absolutely epic)

My visit to GS was kind of abbreviated compared to the last few years.  I arrived a day later than usual and left a day earlier due to the fact that my 92 year old mother was visiting from Portland for a few days.  Days spent with parents are very special and just can't happen often enough as we all get older.  GSX was still a great experience for me even though I think I only got on the water for a couple of hours.  The weather sucked but the NCKA/GS experience is far more than just fishing.  It was great to see so many "old" friends and the campground scene was great as usual.  Kayak Jack's Taco Shack is a five star restaurant.  I have never had better fish tacos!  Bunny's trike shuttle up the hill was a life saver. Dave and Victor's birthday celebration, hosted by Eric and Verna and attended by the Loose Screws Crew could not have been better. The oysters were amazing!  Thank you, Crash.  Eric; you did it again!  It just keeps getting better.  Thank you to Eric and all the people who helped make GSX another epic event in spite of the bad conditions. I look forward to GS-11 and have already reserved my camp site in "Screwville".

Best GS yet for me. I had soooo much fun. I stayed at the Tides inn friday til wednesday. My friend Anthony shared the room with me and Danglin crashed on my couch a few nights. My friend Jose(the spaniard) came down from Washington for the event and stayed in the room next door. I trolled every day for salmon. Of course all i caught were lings and blacks. Thats ok cause i also got a lot of great advice on upping my salmon game from Tiny and loletaeric. I mostly enjoyed spending time yukking it up and drinking wine with all my NCKA brothers and sisters. Thanks to all the people who came together and made the tacoshack happen. It takes a village to raise a tacoshack and fishtacos make the world a better place. One of the highlights for me was watching the dueling guitar jam sessions with Danglin and the spaniard in our room. Two guys who had never met with entirely different styles came together and blew my mind with completely spontaneous improvisational guitar and vocals. Superfuckingcool. I have to get these two together again to play.It was one of the coolest things i have ever seen. Perhaps at Albion.

As always, it looks like GS did not disappoint!
But then again, how could it?
Just wasn't in the cards for me this year...........doesn't mean I won't be back.

There were a lot of notables who didn't come this year. i assume it was partly due to the weather forecast.

I'm headed for a day on the Eel looking for juvenile salmonids, setting water temperature gauges and metering pool depths.  Then I'm headed to Oregon for my son's soccer tourney over the weekend.

Had time to publish this clip:

Catch ya later, NCKA.  :smt001
