One reason I think that SUPs should be allowed is the differentiation between kayak and sup is fuzzy at best, with the introduction of all of these new kayak/sup models.  None are "traditional" kayaks, which a hobie isn't either since its pedal driven.  Which of these is a kayak?  Which is a SUP?  How can you tell the difference?  Just go by the name of them only?  How are we supposed to define a kayak?

here is what was next - trimarans, sails, enough hi-tech gadgetry to warrant using a skiff, and whatever else we can use to capture creatures with brains the size of a fingernail, that still manage to elude us.

I just want to keep it simple and be able to enter a fish or two from a craft that is listed(by my manufacturer) as a kayak

I own 4 kayaks and 2 SUPs.  My SUPs are incredibly difficult to fish off of, as they are not made for fishing.  Its a increased level of challenge that you don't get in a kayak.

I assume people replying to this thread are AOTY participants. Because otherwise, your opinion on this matter does not hold much sway with the AOTY Committee. But that should be obvious.
