Gathering ideas for an art cart to debut at Burning Man 2016.  Thinking of building (2) different ones:

First
Small, easily portable for 1-2 people.  Gas or electric powered.  Thinking along the lines of a gas powered bar stool, lay-z-boy, toilet, ice chest, wine barrel, etc...

Second
Slightly larger than the first.  For 1-6 people.  One of the ideas I'm chewing on is a gas powered picnic table.  See where I'm going with these ideas?  Needs to be small enough to be transported 400+ miles.

Drop me some ideas!  Gotta start fab on something pretty soon!

Uhhh, I say build 1 from a kayak/canoe and 1 from an aluminum boat. Then race em. And the person in the kayak/canoe has to pretend to paddle.

I don't have any specific ideas per se.....however, I do believe a Mardi Gras inspired art car (with automated bead thrower) may evoke an predictable response from willing atendees.

Trying to avoid 'human powered'.  Went that route last year.  This coming year, I want something small enough I can scoot around, bar hop, park at almost any camp & carry a small number of passengers if needed.  Ideally, I want the design to be basic enough I can build like 4-6 of them for my camp to use.

I'd LOVE to find some old bumper cars & convert them to use.  Another option is an old zero turn riding mower for the base of the system.

As much as I'd love something fast & fun, we are limited to 5 MPH & it is the desert so there can be ruts, sand drift, loose sand, etc.  Design has to be able to handle all sorts of surface conditions which rules out things like electric scooters, etc. for the most part.  Depends on the playa surface conditions that year.

This year there were a few cars that lit up like pac-man & they chased each other around the entire city like a massive video game.  I think those were built on golf carts.

So many of the regular art cars now are "private party" so catching a ride has become increasingly more difficult.  Time for my own!

I like the picnic table idea - you should be able to figure out how to make it collapsible at least partially for transport.

Or how about a mini shack or shed on wheels? I think I saw a mobile tent once . . . I think . . . maybe . . .

I would love to put wheels on an old kayak. The boat car has been done, a lot.
