Trianglelaguna's jigs look heavenly sent.  Whoever thought NCKA  fisherman could come up with such imaginative lures?  I am impressed by the thought and construction of this years holiday lures.

I hope from now will Dec. 31st someone gets otw to catch the winner.

I went out yesterday with Ken Jan, and we both got our limits of lings.  Our lings were caught in less then 50 feet of water.  The females are heavy with roe.

Was able to get out last Saturday with the Great Sonoma Coast Crew and was able to recycle my Simply fishing lure into a candy cane one with tassels.
Started slow but was able to hook up 3 nice lings with it...the second one 29+ took the tassels off. FisHunter took the pic of the fish w lure but was unaware of the c&r rule :smt009 :smt009 :smt009 Had a blast of a day anyway!
And in the Spirit of Christmas I gifted it to my Mom! :smt001
Happy new Year to all!

I know there are a few of you (hoarders) out there still waiting to post up on the Virtual Holiday Tournament IV....but here we go!

Finally got back out on the Big Blue after knee surgery just less than three weeks ago. Felt good to be out with good friends, calm seas, and a few scattered fish. The majority of the fish must have gone off to an early New Years event...far from where we were fishing.

Determined to use my previously mangled "Holiday" lures I spent most of the day cheerfully offering my tidings to the deep. Early morning the first contender was a feisty cabby...19.75 inches. C,P, & R'd. Release was witnessed by our very own Mel.

Here are  a  couple crappy cabby pictures...since I no longer compete (yet donate) in AOTY I seem to have lost some of the finer touches of pictures...haha

Later,  I switched over to more traditional (but what is more traditional the the Holiday Spirit?) lures  for a few fish for the ice box. The fish weren't biting so I said to myself ...let's get back in the spirit..and donned the Holiday Lures once again.

Singing Holiday tunes to myself (more like humming so others wouldn't think I'd lost it) I dredged the depths for a miracle. Seemingly hours later I felt a tap...tug..bendo....yeeehaw...A Holiday Miracle!! After getting the fish to the surface and reaching back for my Hawg Trough I realized the measuring device had gone awol (later to be found by Ravensblack..adrift).  I lip gripped the fish and headed over to Jonesz to get a measurement and release. Glynn helped take a few pictures and witnessed the release. It must have been my true Holiday Spirit as the bite was dead....no reports of fish, and this fish graces me with a photo op...

Happy Holidays...Happy New Year...It's been a Great One. Thank You Raydon for keeping the "Spirit" ALIVE!!!

This year's Holiday contest was more about design of lures than actual fishing.  By my count, there were only 4 to 5 fishable days during December.  However, the holiday spirit was not hampered by bad weather as our brothers designed, posted and still managed to keep positive despite being denied fishing days.  I hope those that participated enjoyed themselves and I want to thank you.  Alan, Otobepelagic is a repeat winner.  His managed to catch a 26.75 ling cod on his snowflake special.  There were other fish caught, but the fish ended up going home to celebrate the festivities in person.    I give thanks to the participants and their families who willingly gave their holiday items up for the greater good of fishing.    Allen will received the fish plate and the gaff which was donated by our own Amos, supervato.  Congratulations to all of you and for making this fun.
