It seems the closing of crab season has increased the desire from our NCKA membership to start the merriment and frivolity of the Holiday Tournament early.  I hope it also starts our season of goodwill and love between us and our loved ones early.  Since the date encompasses Thanksgiving, anything associated with Thanksgiving is now considered fair game and if you can get a hook on it, you can use it.  Except anyone  using a whole turkey with a giant barbed hook on it will be disqualified.

During this season, there are many things to worry about and the stress level is above normal.  Let's promote brotherhood, patience, understanding and do as many random acts of kindness that you can.  I know your stress level will be smaller if you think of others.

Rules:////
     1.  Use any item associated with this holiday as a lure. You must catch your fish while fishing in your kayak.  Please use good taste as we
don't want to offend anyone while we enjoy ourselves.
     2.  If possible post a picture of the lure before using it.  (remember, it must be of a holiday theme)  No stock       lures can be used unless they are modified in some capacity.
     3.  Take a picture of the fish you catch using the holiday lure while it is still attached to
fish.    The fish should then be released.  You will be
contacted by the rule Nazi to verify your catch.
     4.   Post a picture of the fish on  measuring devise showing the length of the fish.
     5.   The longest fish wins.  The fish cannot be flattened or squished to increased it's length.
     6.  Contest closes 12/31/2015  Pictures must be posted by 1/10/2016.

We have two prizes.  The winner can pick a ceramic fish serving dish patterned after a Volcano Creek Golden Trout made by Mendocino Artist  Ron Ortman.  Amos, Supervato, has graciously donated a gaff as shown by his daughter.  The winner can choose either prize.

Be safe, have fun, and enjoy the last month of fishing for 2015.

Last year's winner--Allen otobepelagic.  I think he has repeat on his mind.  Jingle bait tipped with squid was the secret.  I wonder if he has a combo planned.  Jingle bait with dressing, or cranberries?  :smt044

Great job Tim and Allen.  Way to get the tournament in gear.  The turkey and cranberries are a novel touch Allen.  The Snowman is also a fantastic innovation, Tim.  I'm looking forward to seeing your result.

Remember that random acts of kindness are a good way to help your positive karma.   :smt059

Bruce Lee's 75th bday this Black Friday.  Does wacking a fish with nunchucks instead of gaff constitute sufficient holiday nexus for entry submission?

Tis The Season...here hiding at my desk trying hard to avoid the preparation of our SECOND Thanksgiving feast. What better to do with My Time than get into the Holiday Spirit...fishing that is. Here are a few of the contenders.

And In The Spirit of Giving...if you catch me at the launch you might just score one of these to help You get in the Spirit.. :smt002

Fished today. ...lots of folks on the water. Bite was great first thing and then dead stop. That didn't matter as it was a beautiful day on the water.

From my post above the silver jeweled star (second from the left) scored again and again.
By the time a few fish were landed the poor lure was mangled. A rebuild is in the future...

Happy Holidays...

ps I stink at taking hawg trough pics any more...
pss I don't think these fish qualify as I retained them...... it was my first time on the water since surgery and I have another surgery scheduled on the 11th.

Way to get the Holiday Tournament off the ground and on the Hawg trough.  That tinsel draped snow flake is a sleeper lure.  It sure fooled the Vermillion.  Nice touch Allen, by using blood as a way to incorporate the color red in your ling picture.  I had no idea you were so artsy.      It looks like the interest in the Holiday Tournament is growing this year.  Tim, TW, Rob, Racinrob, and  Kiel reelknots  have lures ready to unload.  I hope the increased interest in the Holiday Tournament  also reflects our desire to help  others who may need help this season.  Remember, if you do something good this season, you work on your positive karma.    We have an entire month to fish and to help each other.
