Anyone else attending the Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting of the super fantastical San Jose Bass Pro Shops.

This stupid store nearly cost me my life.  I crashed my TT bike on a pile of asphalt that some construction a-hole left in a steaming heap on the Almaden Blvd bike lane.  Driving past, still looks like a $hitload of work to get a fully operational death star, guess its time for full court press.

They'd better serve up some free swag, or at least door buster sales.

my new name should be Ostridge. Got my head in the sand. Going fishing and letting go of the other stuff I can't control anyway!

Be sure to swing by Fishermans Warehouse's new store just down the street from it if you go  :smt003

Yeah, but do they have a 12 lane "underwater" bowling alley?

bAss pro sucks. Walmart bang scent, 6$. Bass pro 9$. Literally nothing is cheaper there. New rocklin store 40 seconds from my house I was super stoked for it to open. Bass pro is an emergency must get it asap stop for me only. Good luck!

Stores, like Bass Pro, aren't really built around "least expensive".  They are attempting to build around "destination" & broad selection.  Lots of overhead for a big store, larger staff, etc, etc, etc.  They don't necessarily have to be the least expensive to keep the people flowing thru.  This is how Target & Wal-Mart manage to co-exist.  IMHO

I'm there to handle the Lowrance training with their new staff

Bass Pro is more of a destination store.  Now that Fishermans Warehouse is up the street and Coyote Bait and Tackle is about 15 minutes up the road I'll probably be hitting all three any time I go, with BPS last on the list.

I think I've mostly visited BPS for the firearms and hunting dept.....they've really had better prices and selection on long guns than I've seen at the lgs.

Bass Pro is a great supporter of active kayak fishing clubs/organizations. I know this from first hand experience. They contribute to our tournament every year raising money for Make-A-Wish and allow us an hour or two in the store to promote the tournament and talk about kayak fishing.

They hold seminars and invite kayakers in to share techniques, talk to newbies, any of you involved in HOW or people who run charity tournaments I am sure they would be willing to listen and possibly give you some floor space on a Saturday to let people know about your cause/tournament.

Was in there last Friday to start training with the electronics & boat rigging/sales guys/gals for Lowrance.  Went great!

My first impression of the store was "no way they will be ready in 5 days to open" but I'm sure they will ... the paint might not be dry, but they will be open!  Cruised thru the store just a little bit & they were still placing merchandising on the shelves but I'm looking forward to heading back up to check in on them (and do a little shopping  :smt002).  Super envious of their boat rigging department/bays  :smt007  The bowling alley looks fun too!

Looks like I'll be back up there again on the 31st all day to help promote Lowrance.  If you're in the area, stop in & see if you can spot other faces you might know  :smt002

Damn, now have to be in SF for deposition on Weds.  Gonna miss the ribbon cutting. Hopefully small chance of rain doesn't spoil the party!

And yes, remain highly skeptical that the paint will have dried by the time doors open.  going to be a nuthouse!

I'm always amazed by the grandeur of their interior decorating & attention to details.  This one does not fall short!
