Friends at NCKA events

I feel very strongly that we do not need weapons at NCKA events. CCW permit or clause in the law not withstanding.. It gets around that someone has a CCW and then someone else feels, "I have to protect myself too" and starts carrying their weapon of choice.
Someone commented, it's only happened a couple times in ten years. I can tell you its happened more than that, only it hasn't made it to the forum.
 Members have shown time and again that we look out after each other when things get dicey. We can solve issues without weapons. After cleaning fish or cooking dinner, knives get put away.  Folding knives or multi-tools might have a use around a campfire. Hunting/ fighting knives do not.
James - Thanks for making us aware  of the situation and exercising the good judgment to walk away.

Much respect to you for the initial decision and the well spoken post. Sorry this happened to you at a place that is supposed to be a place of relaxation and fun.

I know this was no minor incident, but let's not blow it out of proportion. I wasn't there when dude pulled the knife, but I'm pretty sure he never intended to actually stab anybody. Suggestions of calling cops and trying to press charges this late in the game (especially by people who weren't even there) are nonsense. James handled it like a pro and came here to vent his frustration and let others know what went on. If James felt the need to try and lynch the guy or have him arrested he would have called out "Russia's" boy that brought him to the event. He's choosing not to.

OK so honestly I don't believe he was gonna use it either. James did right. Vlaty kinda had me heated for twenty seconds or so. I saw his knife. Never felt threatened though. I got up told him to cut his shit out and he did. I must be getting wiser with age. I don't like conflicts anymore.

I need to make one thing clear ... the official NCKA entity has nothing to do with this event (actually, we are not involved in any tournaments).  So for those of you PM-ing us or reporting posts, unless forum rules are being broken here on the forum, there is not much we can, or care to, do about it.

Now, the community here at NCKA has always done a great job of self policing issues like this.  I'm sure this will resolve itself, as it normally does.

IDK, was not witness - but some if person i didn't know very well, drunk, brandishing or threatening with a knife... something/one has to be addressed.

It is being addressed. Just not gonna out the NCKA member and don't think it will happen again.

I was there with my whole family and had a great time. I will never hesitate to bring my family to an event filled with NCKA members.

Dude was hammered and acting stupid. Was he some gangbanger or psychopath walking around threatening people with a knife? Not at all. He came and went all day on Saturday and was mostly just laughing it up and carrying on with folks.
