Harbor launch will stay safe......Just pay attention and enter/exit on the EAST side of the Jaws!  West side is wehre the waves break if they are breaking at all.

Also lots of boats in and out of the harbor due to offshore bluefin.  If you're launching while dark YOU HAVE TO HAVE A LIGHT!!  Headlamp worn pointing back works good. Turn your FF on as well, that helps.  If you have a pole light, use it.  Especially if there's any sort of swell cause we kayakers tend to disappear to boaters in a swell. Paddle in a group.  Stay to the very right side of the channel out of PB way.  Seriously, as far right as you can get until you reach the jaws, then shoot across when it's safe to exit East side of the jaws. Not a whole lot of boats fishing inshore so we're good there.  Just traveling to fish, and then coming back in watch out for the PB googans.  (And don't BE a yakker googan).

Well said bushy! One question, will any lights suffice? They don't need to be red and green right?

Whatever color that keeps the harbor traffic from running you over should suffice :smt003

If you don't have a waiver form in, best bet would be to contact the shop tomorrow Saturday and get details of how and when you can get that waiver, or hand it in.

Yeah,  But they're  @14 seconds..    You won't even feel them.

Plus side is it might keep some of the PB Googans off the water.

This is true. You may have to time your exit out of the harbor a little more though.

I had no idea.  :smt044

Quote
Googan refers to a rogue fisherman:

A fishing term for lowlife, shore fishermen who bait fish typically without a license, regard to regulations, and etiquette towards other people, especially other fishermen following the rules.

Example: “I couldn’t find a spot at the river yesterday. It was totally full of googans hogging up the place, dropping f-bombs, and snagging fish.”
