Finally have enough funds to get me a hobie. Test drive 15 out back and revo and revo is clear winner. Now my question is I loved seat but is seat upgrade worth the extra $ compared to say a 2010? I do spend hours otw.

Not to many used 15"s yet. Would be like 2200 new

Do you want a kayak with a seat that's 40% more comfortable...or a kayak that's 30% lighter?

You won't be disappointed.  The new seat is great.  It took me one trip to get use to it and its pure comfort ever since.  The center of gravity is solid even in rough weather.  Pretty good if you need to paddle.  My last trip 2 weeks ago was 8 hrs. OTW.  No sore back and wet butt anymore.  :smt003

And recommendations to pick up a 15 in or near bay area for a decent price?

Dealers normally give you 10% off MSRP on the kayak and 10% off accessories.  Give CCK Oakland a call.  Another dealer might give 12% off.  The 2% IMO isn't worth your gas and time if its a longer drive.

I have the older seat.  Works fine with a yakpad. I have no issues or plan on an upgrade to a 2015.   Im sure the new one is a bit more comfortable but I got mines for 1k less than a new 2015.

Just like everything in life.  I want the latest and greatest. But I always weigh my options in terms of cost.

If you feel your current trident is comfortable enough for fishing.  Than you should be fine in a older model.  What counts most is the pedal drive.  I will never want to fish without it again. I dont feel so worn out pedaling 5miles.  Vs paddling.  I use to just come home and pass out after a long day of fishing.

The new seat is fantastic. It's like sitting in a super comfortable lawn chair. I have back issues and I used to have a t13. After about 5 hours my back would be screaming. In my '15 revo I have spent 8+ hours in it and haven't had a problem. Took me a couple of trips to get used to the new CoG, but after that I haven't looked back.

Here's a side by side comparison of the old and new seat.

Old seat:  Your butt gets wet and it keeps going out of adjustment.  When the seat gets wet I felt like sitting on a wet T-Shirt and my butt starts hurting. Seat padding for comfort is terrible.  Adding a gel type pad helps.
Lumbar support is good for a few hours then my back starts getting uncomfortable.

New seat: You butt is high and dry. Multiple adjustment settings, front and back height setting, back recline setting,
Super comfortable for long hours OTW.  My seat settings have not slipped or changed since last adjustment months ago.
New speed drain system located directly under seat gets rid of water fast. Another advantage is I can put a tackle tray underneath the seat.

I had a 2013 Revo with the old seat (the pic FA posted were our kayaks) and after FishingAddict bought the 2015 Revo, I test drove it. The next month, I bought the 2015, too. No looking back....

As FA said:
no more wet butts.
my back has been better, I can fish longer
the back rest doesn't need constant "fixing"
you just need to adjust to the center of gravity.

Sorry for the noob question, but can you remove the 2015 seat or is it permanently affixed? (If you needed to transport the kayak upside down or something)

It comes off very easily. Actually easier to attach/remove than a normal seat with multiple attachment points.
