Are the any difference in seats?
What are major difference in general?

Old seat: sitting on a tack with a stick jabbing my lower back   :smt013
New seat: sitting on a pillow  :smt050

So here's where I'm at. I could get a 2014 new with ff install kit, turbo fins and bigger rudder fo 2k out the door or
2015 new all stock for 2200 out the door.

I'm using this kayak as a dive platform and no freshwater. With new seat being higher is it harder to get back in/out?

I test drove 15 and loved it.

I don't really have any problems with stock seat in my OK 15 other than me as starts to hurt. Couldn't I just upgrade 2104 to say a surf to summit and be just as good.
I'm just wondering if the extra $ is worth just the seat.

if you have a bad back, or you plan on fishing for hours on end then the 2015 would be better. The 2015 will also have bettr resale on the other end in a few years. For what you describe, and your seem to be thinking the 2014 is good, I would look at something used and not get a new 2014. Would be closer to $1500 Im guessing.

I've been diving off of the 2015 Revolution  and love it! No problems with the seat at all. I just keep it in the low position and it doesn't feel tippy. I had a 2012 revolution for a few years and never liked the seat.

I think I will be getting 2015. Thanks for all the advice.

I'm still on the fence about the new seat.  Great for back support but now my legs hurt while bracing against the mount points for the bar that holds and raises/lowers the front of the seat.  I dont even want a high position, as it feels tipsy to me (in an outback) even in the low position. The back support is outstanding however, and the seat never slides out of the holes, so my back does feel a LOT better with the new seat.

I am still working on the adjustment for the new 2015 Revo.  I am very slow in transitioning over.  The new seat was killing my lumbar area, so I am playing around with that.  The greatest benefit I have found with the new seat is that if you have your seat high enough, and fill the under area with water, it becomes a live bait well.   :smt003 It is so convenient.

a inflatable pad in your lumbar area should help with your lower back support.  Each kayak manufacturer does it a little differently, and Hobie's seat is flatter.  Native's seats have a lumbar support, but not all do.  I occasionally use an inflatable pad even on my seat because I tend to slouch while fishing so the built in lumbar support doesn't help me as much.

pretty sure I know the answer to this but can you retrofit the new seat on an old revo?

None of the pre-2015 Hobie kayaks can be retrofitted with the new seat.  :smt011
