I want to put a rod holder. I don't want unnecessary holes in the yak.

I'm thinking of maybe mounting gear track around or behind the seat area.  Likely in front of the original rod holder.

Has anyone used the gt175 yakattack rail system, mounted in the rear?

Wondering what size is best.   This way I can attach a zooka tube or my scotty holder if I plan to troll.

I really want to use the zooka tube just to place the rod in after landing fish. This way I would have a clear deck.

I dont want anything in front or the drive area.  In case I take a drink and have to jump back on.

I had the GT90s on my old Revo 13. They worked fine for me.  The GT 175s are thicker so you should make sure they'll fit on your rail.

I have either 8" or 12" (I forget) thin tracks with the aluminum backing plate.  The backing plate makes it easier to mount the tracks since they are threaded already.  I use scotty rocket launchers angled forward for trolling.  No issues so far.

I'm using 4 of the 12" gt90 with backing plates. 2 above the meh pockets and 2 behind the seat. The ones behind the seat will be impossible to rig without the rigging bullet! I had to slightly trim the front 2 backing plates to fit. Nothing major, only took about 1/4 inch off each end. I'll post pics when I get home.

+1 on measure the width in the area where you plan on mounting.  I used short the wide footprint, but short length, on my hobie for mounting the FF.

I don't believe the bottom of the hobie rocket launcher holes have a gimble slot, so i don't think it will prevent that rod holder from moving around.  you could rough it up a bit with some styrofoam or everyone's favorite pool noodle to keep it from moving as much.

2 above the meh pockets and 2 behind the seat.

I know you meant to say "mesh" pockets...but I kinda like the term "meh pockets" because they are sorta meh.
Like, where do I store my pliers? In the Meh Pocket.

Off-topic warning! If you're looking for a cheap & easy solution, you can turn the flush-mount holders into multiple-rod holders using pvc and pool noodle. They are pretty solid and I can angle them in many different directions.

HMMM.. I was trying to figure out what a gimble was .. I thought it was what Scotty named it...lol    It suppose to have 2 rubber rings around the shaft to keep it from moving too much. I will see how it works.. If not Ill just return it since its a Prime amazon part.  I really just want the holder to point towards the bow. So I can stick my rod in it while I play with the fish. ha

Just wondering if anyone has put a flush mount/down rigger behind the seat on the revo? Looks a bit angled but looks like it might work? I love working the DR behind the seat.
Hesitant on using the gear track for a down rigger.

I used the gear track for downrigger, worked fine for a lake troller. But my gear track was full backed. I know some guys have flush mounted their downrigger before.
