I'm in the market for a new Kayak cart since mine doesn't work on my new Outback.

Any recommendations?

I like the idea of the scupper mounted one but I hear it damages the kayak?

Thanks in advance!

Teddy

if its for the Outback my 2015 has re-enforced scuppers for the cart...I got the one with balloon tires and am happy with it so far. I like the keeper pin at the top to keep it from falling off too.

There are bunches of threads on the board on the pluses and minuses of scuppers, tire size, self-build or buy  a cart.

You can search 'em out and read all the argu, I mean discussions.  I always recommend buying Wheeleez (Model # WZ1-KCB) - large tires, don't use scupper holes! Your tackle, poles, fish, weights, abs, lunch and beer weigh enough to stress them over time, and you usually won't know until you take on water offshore.

I like my C-TUG cart. It breaks down nicely and fits in the front hatch of my hobie.

Wheel-Eez work great for about 90% of my uses, But, at shelter cove, my wife taxi's me up the hill. When the Wheel-Eez start to hop and become unstable. I now have a set of the Malone with the hard/wide wheels. These have worked out better for pulling behind a vehicle .... No bounce ;0)

Wheeleze and nothing else. Get the one with the big wheels and you're set.

if you never use it in sand, you'll be fine with the rubber ones.  If you ever use it in sand or soft mud, then the bigger wheels are better.

edit - if you use it in uneven terrain, the bigger beach wheels are better also, helps smooth the ride.

Went over some rough terrain with a guy who had built his own cart out of PVC.  It fell apart, we ended up using my big wheels on his yak too.  The Malone wheels like yak hopper mentioned are my second choice.

EK - it sounds like excessive speed or an inflation issue resulting in the bounce. Excessive speed can cause welded axle bearings....DAMHIK - AK knows, too!

To rephrase: best all-around are Wheeleez Beach Wheels. I've used my set to rescue folks with different brands and home-builts when they broke. I've even doubled up a couple times but do not recommend it.

+10 love mine. i went from those crappy black malone ones to the mini beach wheeleze and now to the big ones and they're awesome. don't get me wrong i never had any problems with the mini wheeleze's. don't waste your time dealing with crappy cheap ones.

I would get the sand wheels. It's an all terrain wheels. You will eventually fish the salt as well, so why limit yourself? I've had mine for approx 5 or 6 years now and not showing much sign of wear. You can get the solid wheels and in the future might upgrade but you might ask yourself, "why didn't I just buy that other wheel in the first place?"

Definitely get the Beach Cart Wheeleez.  You will end up buying one after failures and bad experiences from other products.
