Well, he did follow advice, just it was mine, and maybe I was wrong.  But i've used the smaller cart, without the black collar things, on my OB for over 5 years without any issues.  I'm not sure if the collars are supposed take the load of the whole kayak or just help balance it out. The Hobie cart is made to withstand a whole fully loaded PA or AI and all it's gear, so it's not likely to be overloaded by an OB.  It does seem a bit snug though.  And the regular Wheeleez beach cart didn't sit very well on my OB either, since it's hull has an oval shape in the middle, I had to modify it slightly to make it work well.

If your not happy with it, and they wont return it, I'd buy it off of you, because I was just about to order one for my new OB coming in this week.  And I have wheeleez as well, but I like the hobie cart for most situations.

Al- I'm curious how you install the scupper wheels onto a fully loaded kayak after your session?

Well, two ways, or really three. If i'm at a lake I keep it in the water and take one wheel off, then slip it under the boat and find the scupper holes and then rock-it forward into place, put on the second wheel and off you go.  If not, I've just leaned the kayak on it's side until I could slip them in.  It may be harder to do though with the 30cm wheels, not sure yet.  3rd way requires a friend to lift it up the rear and then I can slide them up underneath.

there is a thread on Hobies forum about the wheeleze not fitting properly...they know it and have just changed them...I was told to return it to the dealer to exchange for a new one.

thanks for the tip Al!            I've tried the same thing but with both wheels I couldn't submerge the cart enough underwater to get it inserted into the kayak.

Wheeleze and nothing else. Get the one with the big wheels and you're set.

+1 Pricey but well worth it.

+ 1, I can carry GF's Walden and my Quest kayak to the launch on one trip with a wheelez. Not sure I could do that with any other brand.

I experience the same issue loading and unloading the kayak with the cart using the scupper hole.  It was tough to submerge the hobie cart underneath while the hobie was in the water. Also taking off the cart when launching it as well without all the gears falling out. Launching it wasn't too bad since I just had to lift the rear high enough for it to fall out. Putting it on was another issue.

After thinking about it, I'm going to carry this easel that I bought to help in loading the kayak onto the rack to put it on without tilting the boat to the side.

I purchase the easel initially to load the kayak on my car rack without breaking my back but after a few trips out, I got the hang of loading it (although after a long day on the lake with tired arms and legs I have it in the car for backup)

Now the easel has another purpose. :)

I still have the hd hobie scupper wheels for sale, if anyone is interested..

They work great if you use them for anything other than sand.  Ideal for lakes and ramps.  The wheels are narrower nont take much enurshia to spin.

However they do dig in the sand.

Hi all,

I'm going to "listen" and order the Wheeleez WZ1-KCB as recommended. This is for the new yak I'm getting soon.  I see prices are going for 337 from Amazon. Others are about the same price range. I did find a place that will sell it for a lot less. The axle width is Width at Axle: 35.5" (90cm). This is the same one right? It's only 220.00 at this place and shipping is included as long as you aren't in a rush.

Great thread and information.  Thank you for the tip and link.  I wasn't even thinking about transporting my Outback down the beach, but after reading these posts I place an order from the REI link.  Should have it in a few days.  Isn't technology and sharing information great...

that will be my next cart. After experiencing with the scupper cart, its just too much hassle. Its not bad transporting it without any gear but with gear, its a pain!!

might be selling the hd hobie cart once I can secure the wheelzee cart. I already used my 20 percent :(
