That's an awesome looking yak. I think I may have seen you and your buddy out at the port a while back.
Never argue with an idiot. They'll just drag you down to their level, and beat you with experience.

Thanks for the compliments. There are 4 of  us that built them in West Sac.

And they fish!

We've built trays that go across the cockpit to mount rod/cup holders GPS & fishfinders. That way we don't mess with that nice looking deck.

The port is close by, I hope to fish with you guys out there more often.

That's pretty cool!

The company I got my plans from has a similar Sit-on-top that's got a bit more deck.

http://www.clcboats.com/shop/boats/stitch-and-glue-kayaks/sea-island-sport-sit-on-top-kayak-kit.html

Is that guy still around? I'd like to pick his brain a bit. I'm thinking about adding a rudder and doing it myself. (Bike brake cables etc.)

I'm trying to keep my hull and deck clean for recreational paddling, (Keeping the wife happy) while setting up for fishing on removable parts.

I am sporting an Emotion Stealth.  Picked this up last week from Dan at Headwaters in Lodi.  Happened by chance.  Was actually going in to get a Spitfire for my daughter to paddle with us and Dan talked me out of it since I would end up being the one using it the most.  Just getting back into fishing and figured this would help me get motivated.  After reading all the sick yaks you guys got I am in awe.  This is a good starter yak for me and if I get really into it than I can always trade up.

Glad you went for the upsale. Your going to get hooked like the rest of us. Come by the shop tomorrow and get some rigging tips from some experienced yak fisherman. Party starts at 5 pm. Im bringing my grill and some dogs.

Pelican Castaway 116, it's a good boat but has some flaws. Fake Scotty mount in the center is nice, but since it's not a real Scotty the other attachments don't work. The front hatch supposedly leaks, I used weather stripping and sealed mine pretty good before it ever hit the water, so I don't have that issue. It's stable and pretty light weight, I have no problems in open ocean, or in lakes/rivers.

It doesn't have a ton of under deck storage, but it has a space for a rear hatch (which I literally just installed) It also has a plug space for FF cables to pass through.  For under $450 I *Highly* recommend it.

Should I feel like a douche that my yak isnt even on the poll? Malibu x-13, slightly pimped, very yellow. Also a big fan of the Chesapeake light craft. I am saving for the SUP kit now.
