MBK Annual Fishing Derby MAY 2, 2015

 

 

I saw that can of beer! I took it home with me and recycled it lol. 

it was a stage prop for a few of my ground level shots..usually a clam shell or some cool colored sea weed ...but for our crew??

even got to do the Big Sur car ride -moon roof open and many stops down to the River Inn for lunch and beyond before SuperVato and Co went home Sunday

 

sharing time before and after the events and helping each other out has been the biggest surprise for me after getting involved in NCKA...it really ties it all together and makes catching fish a close second for me

I just wanna point out that empty can was not mine...you can clearly see I'm holding a Bud Light Chelada in that photo of the safety briefing.

I don't need to jack the thread.

But...  I'm horrible with names, I forgot the name of the guy was talking to at MBK but I had mentioned that a buddy of mine hooked up with a 50 pound lingcod a few weeks prior. I told him I would send him a photo.

Of course after talking to a couple guys on the boat with him, the fish mysteriously grew to 60 pounds.  You be the judge.

its a big fish those big brown ones are huge--bet his arms are sore holding it out like that to trick the camera 

just kidding..its a hog--the head meat alone would feed a family

the guy who won sure did well--how many times do we go out and get big lings and this guy does it on a day when 50 other kayaks could not---everyone  was out there thinking c'mon baby work it...work it....you know how we do it!!
but that guy did it and made it in by weigh in and rolled that kayak right over to his vehicle and that was all she wrote

gonna bother me the rest of the season    any time I catch a 10lb+ ling

You're not kidding either. I got a 14 pounder last weekend that would've won me a boat this weekend! In Monterey Bay nonetheless.

That was me, and that thing is a PIG!!! One day Id love haul one like that right up onto my lap and give it good talking to. Thanks for sharing.

When I got back from the beach my buddy Martin G. sent me a pic of you asking if I knew you! 

Small world...I guess you guys are neighbors? His wife works with my wife, and our kids go to school together. 

I was bummed that when I showed up at 1pm a lot of folks had already left, but still got to see some of the usual suspects and share some laughs and hugs.

 

Thansk again to Allen and MBK and all the anglers who supported T2B2! 

Let's do it again next year?!

A Small World For Sure !!!

I'm Neighbors with Chis in Aromas and just met Jeff a couple times.. ( That's a Yacht by the way!!  ) 

I took off way too fast .. I think I was too exited to take the kayak home ! Missed the mandogs and everything!
