Any one tried the Schumacher SEM-1562A-CA 1.5 Amp Speed Charge Battery Maintainer?
I have another brand but in my "research" the one you refer to is highly regarded and perhaps the best reviewed model

Yep, that looks to be a fine model.  At 1.5 amps it shouldnt have any problem getting you charged back up over night.  Mine is very similar in design but made by Deltran and only puts out 1.25 amps which is still adequate for overnight charging.

this thread has me wondering if my battery is enough for my  Elitex4. I bought it an Interstate Batteries  . the brand is Power Patrol it is 12v 5ah and it ran the ff for a few hours but I havent used it over long periods of time yet but plan to very soon. do I need to upgrade to a more powerful battery?

Cpt:  your Elite 4x uses 200mA per hour.  Using my formula above you should be able to fish for 12 hours and would only use 2.4 amps which is roughly half of your battery's rated capacity.  You should be good for day trips with what you've got.

How about this 12v 18amp deep-cycle AGM battery? Seems like a good deal...

I'm waiting for some tech company to hookup with some kayak company & vacuum form a kayak top deck out of solar panel material so that the entire top half of the kayak is absorbing sunlight for charging purposes.  This would also make it reflective to broadband radar systems making us WAY more visible to boaters.

I hereby patent this idea! :smt003

A 12ah sla battery weighs over 8 lbs.  x2= 16.2 lbs. Get a 7.2ah @5 bs.

I use the 9ah Remco battery that came with my Hobie FF install kit. I usually try to charge it up before each trip, but I have forgotten a couple times and still got a full day of fishing out of it with my Lowrance Mark 4.
How is that working for you? I was thinking of picking up the lowarance ready battery pack for my 2015 outback

This thing? http://www.austinkayak.com/products/12609/Hobie-Fishfinder-Installation-Kit-III-Lowrance-Ready.html

You could save more than half of that cash by just buying the battery tray, a 9ah sla battery and a charger.
