It was definitely a time vs. money decision. I could have made it happen for less money, but I had other more interesting things to do. I also got a discount on it since I ordered it from CCK when I bought my Outback.

The kit I bought was an older version. It had a big foam block for the battery to wedge into. I think they intended for the foam block to get glued to the inside of the hull, but I just leave the battery in the foam and strap the whole contraption to my mast pole with some Velcro. Easier to install/remove that way.

The waterproof connector that came with the kit is so-so... I'm starting to see some corrosion despite a healthy coat of dielectric grease.

Actually, you would also need to get some wire and some wire clips if you intend to run the battery in the rear hatch.

I put my battery in the rear hatch on the AI.  Yeah, need wire to get it to the unit.

I use a Shorai lithium motorcycle battery, it can handle my elite 4x dsi for about 16 hours straight with full bright on the screen, cost me $140. Hasn't shown any effects of losing charge or any sort of damage from saltwater, plus it only weighs 1 pound. Might take about 20 minutes to fully charge with a standard battery charger.

That is alot of battery for a FF... Mines on its way, but I got it for my motorcycle.    From shorai website its not recommended to have voltage drop less than 12.86v..  Plus you have to buy their charger for 60 bucks. Unless you want to have a non auto off charger and keep an eye on it.   Im sure its a great battery its why I ordered one.. If it last on my bike for 3 years with my heated vest I'll be happy.  But I wouldn't use it for a FF  just my opinion.

I just ordered a 30 dollar Mighty max battery. 9ah.. If it goes out in a year. I will replace it..  My battery goes out while im fishing I can still fish.. My battery goes out om my moto.. I waste a day and having to pay expensive tow.

Big thanks AlsHobieOutback. I still have some time to get ready before the rocks and lings open so this saves me big time. Now all i have to look for are the wires and plugs.
