It's official!!! We get to go rockfishing next month!!!!

Ocean Salmon

The recreational fishery for ocean salmon is currently closed statewide. The 2015 season for ocean waters will be decided in April 2015 by the Pacific Fishery Management Council and the California Fish and Game Commission.

this info is just now on the phone 3/11/14 central region -non official -but professional- source on Salmon opening

'I 'am no expert but  I do have a close approaching Salmon charter for many folks and money down , people setting time aside....

it normally is first weekend in April every year and I was told just now and ealry this year by my source "if it is going to stay closed-some notice(2weeks) must" --word it how you want---needs to be given to local folks who have these type of obligations...

at this time no chatter is present at my source that it is closed ,or will be staying closed for the 2015 salmon season ,and no heads up notice to have folks not put money down etc...has been even hinted at FWthats worth

Anyone know if the change to the Ling Cod limit is in effect as of  today or next month at the start of the boating season?

The predictions for this year's salmon abundance are HIGHER than last year, so I see no reason to think the season won't open first week of April as usual.

Also... I think we can expect some SERIOUS action outside the HMB harbor later this season thanks the to hard work of our friends at Coastside. Based on the numbers, there will be MANY more fish returning to HMB harbor to "spawn" this year than there were last year.

SSHHH... don't tell anyone....

The Press release link in my post iis a different document then what's shows up in your cell phone picture even thought they say pretty much the same thing. In fact, this press release wasn't even written when you took your picture....trust me.

COOL, so less than three weeks till we can have some fresh fish for dinner!    Time to get my prepwork started cleaning up reels, sorting tackle, ordering new gear, and the like.  Going to need swimbaits and leadheads for sure!
