Kayak Wars

The regions are for competition within the region. There is no possible way for a west coast team to amass the points that the east coast guys do with certain fish species. If you could see points from past years you would understand. It was split into regions to help control that. Do what you want. Play don't play. Team NCKA will again finish on top of total points and saltwater point as we have from day one. Out of the 40-50,000 points we have earned over the past 3 years I would guess that maybe 2-300 of those were from out of the region. Those points made absolutely no difference in the outcome at the end. We almost doubled everyones points in our region.

I'll be honest, the first year a few were, mostly canaries.I posted 3-4 canaries. I figured I had to handle it to un hook it so I took a pic while I was at it. Only year 1.  A few Coho over the years, but most were self dq'd by the angler. Some of the Coho were Oregon caught, and Oregon was in the region till this year but did not matter anyway. Those fish made no difference in the wins either. We do not post any fish species that we can not keep any more.

Rob just posted an out of season fish... Just sayin it cant be kept he said so himself on facebook lol.

Well I looked at the top 3 teams in our division, I do not know where Rob caught his fish or if they were legal, but I did notice the one angler who appears to have posted the same striper multiple times even giving it a different length on some... and that's on the complaining parties team.. Just saying....not complaining, or really even caring.

     You might want to talk to Ryan. He posted the same fish 4 times. That is not cool at all. That is a pretty blatant foul. And Eric posted a few spots as Bass other and a few more as hybrids. Hybrids are Wipers in KW. You guys do what you want to. We will still win.

First of all I caught my fish in Oregon.  Second, there is nothing in the rules that addresses an out of season fish.  The closest thing is this:All "Sharks must be released for safety reasons.  All other fish have the option of being kept and harvested (pending your local game laws). "   
I don't know why you guys are whining when you have several more species and opportunities than I do where I'm located.  Derek, you and Ryan can add your points at the end of the year and it will still come short of my total score at the end and I won't be able to fish for my regular species until May.  Quit your whining and use the head start you got right now while you have it.  I'm not going to give you a strategy, but there are some freshwater species that yall have in central and socal that arnt up here and are easy points as seen by recent anglers post.  The only fish yall don't have an opportunity to catch in your area saltwater wise is a pacific halibut and it doesn't matter since both CA and Pacific's are bunched together. 

It would be nice to have some competition teamwise for a change, but of course you guys don't have a chance unless 2 of us were injured and unable to play.  SHUT UP AND FISH!!

ya we should quit our jobs an post outta season fish. Lol if you got a problem with yakhoppers entries tell him. If you think rhyaks posting fish more then once ask to see his go pro footage. Other then that quit making false accusations and quit posting otherwise illegal fish an follow the dfg regulations.

I played last year, after witnessing the same thing I decided against playing this year...the concept is cool, it's a nice way to log catches, but the posting up of no-take species wasn't cool, and not something I want to be a part of.

This.  I much prefer AOTY and its no nonsense rules.  Just reading this thread makes me happy I'm not participating.

Did I miss something?
Where does it say that a hybrid has to be a wiper?
Isn't a hybrid formed when two species mix?
The spots in the San Jaquin have cross bred with the now nearly nonexistent smallmouth ... Isn't that considered a hybrid?
If you think I am incorrect, just send me a message and if I'm wrong I will be glad to correct it.

Agreed. I just like to fish. Big time therapy. Muddying the experience with competition just simply sucks. If I fish against someone, it's gonna be me.

I see where Derrick is coming from, though I don't have the same feelings. The very competitive teams are composed of guys that can and do fish more days than not and have the means to travel regularly and are obviously unbeatable. If that's what makes them feel good,  ok. They are jockeying to maintain and obtain sponsorships and that's a big part of their life. If you can't handle that, you shouldn't compete. You also shouldn't be pissed at that. And there's always going to be someone who cheats and that can't be helped in the KW platform.

Does KW have their own forum?

If so, please keep these discussions there or handle KW issues through PMs.

Took longer then i thought to get shut down lol

KW does not have a forum anymore...and I think there are some legitimate issues being stated. I feel it is good to talk them through amongst each other and try to come to an understanding. KW does make things kinda difficult by not having a clear set of rules, ie the hybrid thing and whether or not u can take pics of fish u cant keep... We could try to put some effort into getting the rules changed, or at least get them worded better? It would only take them a few minutes to clarify both those issues and end some of the problems. As for duplicate posts, sometimes accidents happen, sometimes people try to cheat. I would love to see the changes made so that some more of you would play in the tournament. It is a fun way to log catches and also challenge yourself to catch new species! You don't have to shoot for the top, there are just some of us who are very competitive people by nature and aim for the #1 position in everything we do in life, and as they say "birds of a feather flock together". So yes we have created a team that may be hard to beat, but not impossible by any means. Despite our best efforts team Bridgeport still layed the smack down on freshwater last year.   
I will post on the KW facebook page tonight asking for clarification in the rules, it might help make a difference if ya'll who are on FB chime in also. And those who are not playing because of the rules please let your opinion be heard by KW admin also, maybe we can make the change!
So those reading the thread don't be put off by the "shananigins", there are just a few kinks in the system that need to be worked/talked out and we can all go back to doing what we all love to do, floating around on a big piece of plastic catching fish...or in my case lately having fun trying!
